1 Shutdown Planning & Installation Schedule
Integration process – IMT update Installation Planning & Schedules 2007 Installations BTH -> FEH 2008 Installation

2 Integration Management Team Overview
IMT Organization Integration Area managers are points of contact for changes and schedules Changes are documented in a Design Change Request (DCR) form Signatures from Integration Area Managers and System Managers assures acknowledgement and communication across systems Project Office final approval – assures funding path is known and approved DCR to CF provides clear direction that action on change is approved and can begin CCB to be submitted by group performing work APD Conventional Facilities (Jess Albino) APD Engineering (Tom Fornek)

3 System Design/Construction Integration
Integration Management process Integration Management Team Established core team to ensure systems wide communication Review and approve change requests to CF from technical groups Review IFC drawings for technical requirements and compatibility Review installation plans and provide input on integration activities Document change requests that are cross divisional (affecting more than one system) Processes A Design Change Request, once approved, gets turned into a BCR by group doing work Technical requirement documents (ESD, PRD, RDS, ICD) are tracked by the QA Manager

4 Integration Management Team
IMT Design Topics and Issues to date DCRs complete & approved Service Building Power: IMT-DCR (Controls-CF) Offset Mirror support pad relocation: IMT-DCR (XTOD/XES-CF) Electron Beam dump: IMT-DCR (Linac-CF) NEH Concrete Wall Penetrations: IMT-DCR (XTOD/XES-CF) Beam Dump Crane: IMT-DCR NEH Hutch cable trays: IMT-DCR DCRs in process FEE Electrical Alcove: IMT-DCR (XTOD/XES-CF) LCW for LTU: IMT-DCR (PM/Linac-CF) Issues being worked PPS requirements for CF (lighting controls, AC power, HVAC/ventilation controls, etc) The process is working well and continues with weekly meetings

7 Installation Planning
2007 SLAC Shutdown SLAC downtime – September, October, November 2007 Assuming 2 weeks for PPS in Nov 2007 Installation Planning Installation through BC2 & all cable plant; including cables through the BSY into the BTH West Will develop Integrated schedule using P3 after iterations in MSProject and SLAC downtime schedule input Will use SLAC Schedule process for SLAC resource loading 2008 Installation Planning LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo 2008 Installation schedule developed to begin detailed planning & integration process Early Co-Occupancy dates being defined Will follow on 2007 Installation learning curve and use P3 for detailed install schedule (shift work, multiple calendars, etc) Schedule shows Cable Plant rack Installation starting as early as December 2007

8 2007 Installation Planning
A 2007 Installation Schedule Readiness Review was held on March 16 - report determined that: Integrated schedule is needed; amount of work shown by independent schedules does not match downtime duration and conflict with each other Majority of system will be ready for the down; just need to fit into the timeline Detailed schedule being developed in MS Project Integration of individual system schedules Weekly LCLS Installation meetings held Weekly SLAC Downtime meetings held SLAC Directors Readiness Review held on May 16 – report confirmed the LCLS plan and schedule is sound and will maintain the downtime dates as published LCLS is major focus of downtime, confirms laboratory support

9 2007 Installation Schedule
LCLS 2007 Installation schedule includes: Facilities Work Sector 21 – 30 electrical BTH West MEP & LCW Cable Plant Sector 24 – 30 I&C and DC cables for BC2 BSY Work Cables from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West BPM S21 to BSY Mechanical/Vacuum Sector 24 – 29 removal and installations of BC2 & L3 Controls BCS; BC2 Magnet controls; Vacuum System; BC2 Timing System; BC2 MPS; BC2 Networks; BC2 Motion Control System

10 2007 Installation Schedule (cont)
LCLS 2007 Installation schedule, as of 6/22/07, contains 520 task lines Shift work and multiple crews being used for Mech/Vac; shift work in schedule for Cable Plant work during PPS no access periods Critical Path As of 6/22/07, CP runs through BC2 Removal of hardware - Cable plant and component install – cable terminations – cable testing; complete 11/9/07 Magnet testing & checkouts follow through end of downtime

11 2007 Installation Schedule (cont)
LCLS 2007 Installation schedule 6/22/07 BSY Work (for example) Cable Plant from B005, B105, B106, B136 into BTH West Requires Downtime (obviously) to install cables, therefore needed in 2007 down. Magnet loads not installed until ~March 2008, but need to checkout & commission before next downtime Cable plant (Controls) install needs to be coordinated with BTH West MEP (LCLS CF)

12 BSY Work – B005 to BTH West Cable run from B005 through the BSY, into BTH West via ~12 small penetrations B005

13 2007 Installation Schedule (cont)
Continue to plan downtime requirements Systems checks & balances RSWCF for linac & cable way penetrations ES&H review of SOW’s Subcontractor installations Appropriate training Work authorization forms (WAF) AD & LCLS forms RWP Electrical safety for cable plant install & connection to PS PO lockdown procedure being considered

14 Shutdown Planning & Installation Schedule
Installation Planning & Schedules BTH -> FEH 2008 Installation

15 2008 Installation Planning
LCLS installations begin at Early Occupancy dates defined by TCCo BTH, Undulator Hall & Service Buildings available as early as December 5, 2007; NEH 12/21/07; X-ray tunnel 1/8/08; FEH 3/24/08; SB 2.3 late December TCCo has priority over co-occupied space until B.O. BTH-NEH B.O. 3/21/08; X-ray tunnel – FEH B.O. 6/23/08 Subcontract SOWs are being prepared Need to ensure this work does not impact the 2007 installation effort

16 2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 1 of 5
Co-Occupancy dates defined Major subcontracts used for installations - Electrical needs to be ready at Early Occupancy dates of service buildings First activity is Metrology network installation 2007 Downtime LTU components connect to cables installed through BSY in 2007 downtime

17 East Maze – Undulator entry point
LTU Hardware contained inside BTH West and BTH Entry areas are East & West mazes, and openings at headhouse Will plan access areas to limit interferences with Undulator and LTU installation phases West Maze entry point Headhouse entry East Maze – Undulator entry point BTH West tunnel Undulator Hall

18 2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 2 of 5
Undulator girder installation, testing and checkouts are on critical path FEE component installation

FEE systems are well along in the planning stages

21 2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 3 of 5
X-Ray tunnel and FEH installation delayed until FY2009

22 LCLS 2008 Installation schedule
NEH overview NEH Hutches

23 2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 4 of 5
Systems ready for first electron beam into dump by 12/8/08 2008 Downtime duration may impact initial startup 2008 Downtime

24 2008 LCLS Installation Schedule 5 of 5
2009 Downtime Commissioning activities leading to CD-4a and CD-4b

25 Summary 2007 Installation Planning 2008 Installation Planning
Continue to use SLAC format for SLAC resource loading Continuing to ‘squeeze’ schedule to fit within 3 month time frame 2008 Installation Planning Early occupancy of Conventional Facilities will begin the installation process for technical systems Does not require Linac/PEPII down for LCLS installations BTH West install will require ‘50B1 ON’ state which prevents ESA and SABER beams from operation Need to coordinate several subcontracts (~6-10?) to install mechanical systems and cable plant simultaneously Installation/Commissioning Timeline to CD-4a - DRAFT Draft version based on 2008 install schedule
