1. Connect this proverb to you- you may either share a story where you connect it or discuss the meaning of the proverb
2. Connect this proverb to the people of Abame in chapter 15. Did they follow this proverb?

3. Front the Writing with Group Discussion
In your literature circle folder, you will find four passages from chapters with an attached graphic organizer. Each member will get one passage and page.
Read the passage individually and write your notes to answer the first question in the note section. (5 minutes)
Discuss your passage (all group members should have books to refer to your passage) and the question along with your notes. Your group will discuss the question, and you will write down the notes. (20 minutes)
Each member from each group will sit in the middle “hot spot” to discuss the question with a member of the other groups. The members will write down the ideas that extend/challenge their thinking on this question. (40 minutes)
Last, you will answer the re-write question on your own using the notes from the discussions along with your own thoughts.
