LINES OF LATITUDE LINES OF LONGITUDE Run from east to west Run from north to south Main line is the Equator Main line is the Prime Meridian The Equator divides the earth into the Northern and Southern hemisphere. The Prime Meridian divides the earth into the Eastern and Western hemisphere. They are parallel They are not parallel they meet at the poles. They determine climatic zones They help to calculate time. They are imaginary lines They determine the location of places.

Lines of latitude are determined by its position north or south of the equator, hence North Latitude and South Latitude. A place is therefore, north or south latitude.

Lines of Latitude and Longitude
