8 Day in the Life of the Working Poor
The novel we are reading focuses on characters who live at the poverty level. In order to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences, we need to understand the challenges and frustrations presented by poverty. You will be given a situation that forces you to deal with the same issues a destitute person faces in contemporary society. Directions: You will work with a partner for part of the class period to develop a plan for dealing with this average day in the life of someone living on the edge of poverty. Together, you and your partner will write a detailed plan for how your family will solve the problem it is presented.

9 Day in the Life of the Working Poor
With a partner or by yourself, read through the scenario outlined in Part 1. Afterwards, read through the problem you’re facing. Then, complete Part 1 and Part 2 on your paper. Part 1 asks you to decide how you’re going to use your limited budget to solve your problem, and Part 2 asks you to justify your choices in a quick write. Make sure if you work with a partner that you both write Part 1 on your own piece of paper.

10 TKAM: Chapter 7 study questions
