2 The identification of key words
When you study, you are first going to make summaries by identifying the key words and then you will memorise the facts. Key words can be described as the fewest number of words in a sentence that are still able to tell you what the sentence is saying. They therefore are the most important words in a sentence. The key word of a sentence is that word or group of words that is so important that, if your remember them; you will immediately be able to recall the rest of the sentence.

3 To identify a key word, ask yourself:
REMEMBER A key word is the key to the sentence. IT UNLOCKS THE CORE MEANING OF THE SENTENCE. To identify a key word, ask yourself: What is this sentence about? What does the sentence want to tell me?

4 latitude and longitude.
EXAMPLES 1. The world globe has lines across it, which help you to find places and is called lines of latitude and longitude. - What is this sentence about ? Lines of latitude and longitude What does the sentence want to tell me ? The use of lines of latitude and longitude KEY WORDS: Latitude, longitude – find places 2. The equator divides the world in a northern and southern hemisphere. - What is this sentence about ? The equator The purpose of the equator KEY WORDS: Equator – north, south

5 PRACTICE THIS METHOD BY:
Identify and underline the key words by using sentences in your text or note book then write it down.

6 Memorisation techniques
AS SOON AS YOU HAVE REDUCED THE WORK AND MADE IT EASIER BY ONLY WRITING DOWN THE KEY WORDS. WE WILL TEACH YOU A FEW EASY MEMORISING TECHNIQUES TO HELP YOU REMEMBER THE KEY WORDS EASILY.

7 Visualisation A person’s brain works just like a video camera.
A person’s brain works just like a video camera. This is why one can remember movies so well and why one reads a story in a book as if it is a movie playing out in your brain. If I say the word ‘car’, you see a car in your mind and not the letters c, a and r.

8 VISUALISATION PICTURE Therefore is when instead of seeing words
you see a PICTURE in your mind.  Remember the word “VISUALISE” it is a very important word!

9 in the second column, draw a picture of the word:
