2. Basic child care programs
Center-Based Care:
Programs outside of the home environment that provides education for a young group of children
Home-based Care:
Children from 0 to 5 are taken care of by a caregiver in their home or the home of the parent(s)

3. Center-Based Care Disadvantages Advantages
Not all workers are certified
One person watches after two to four children during the day
Advantages
Provides physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development
There will always be someone there to watch your child/children
Usually cost less than home-based care

4. Home-Based Care Advantages Disadvantages:
Less germs and illnesses to deal with
Reasonable and stable care at almost anytime of day
Provides stability with children
Disadvantages:
Children don’t have a chance to hang with others
More expensive
More accommodating for families and their living situations

Center-Based care
Child care center:
A place where children can interact with adults and other children in their age range
Preschool:
A place where children interact with other children their age with two “teacher” like adults. They can interact with each other about eight hours

7. Home-based care Nanny: Stay-at-Home Parent
A person who is taking care of a child while the parents are at work or throughout the day
Can be expensive
Stay-at-Home Parent
A parent who stays at home and takes care of their child

8. Home-Based Care
Children who stay at home with a caregiver after birth are able to grow and build strong relationships with the caregiver. The child will become more comfortable with the home environment. The child can establish a strong relationship with the caregiver, but may have trouble interacting with children around the same age

9. Center-Based Care
Children are able to interact with each other. They are also able to learn from each other and their caregivers. Children are able to learn in a more school-like (usually toddlers) environment. Some children may experience a few anxieties with the new place, but will soon get over them once they get use to the new caregivers.
