Two main things to include in thesis:
Theme
What Miller uses to develop that theme (characterization, plot, conflict)

Characterization: If you’re using characterization, make sure to include WHO you will be focusing on.
Sample thesis: The Crucible shows that friendship is the strongest force, developing this theme through the characters Abigail and Mary Warren especially.
Conflict: Make sure to include what types of conflict help to develop your theme.
Sample thesis: Arthur Miller shows that friendship is the strongest force in his novel The Crucible and develops this theme especially through the conflicts of man v. self and man v. man.
Plot: Make sure to include the parts of plot that will help develop your theme.
Sample thesis: Friendship is the strongest force in The Crucible, and this is shown through the development of plot, especially in the rising action and the climax of the story.

Take 10 minutes to try and come up with strong claim sentences.

Remember that you need to use at least one primary source document in your essay.
We will be looking at more primary source documents that you can potentially use.
Group 1: You will be looking at lessons that Puritans had to learn as children.
Group 2: You will be looking at diary entries and a letter during the Salem witch trials.
You will have to teach another person about what YOU are responsible for, so make sure that you know what you are talking about!
