Hierarchial: That is, mastery of each “lower” category was a prerequisite for achieving mastery of the next “higher” category.
What is wrong with this picture?
Knowledge comes in many forms and dimensions. Not all knowledge is factual.
Example: Knowledge: Recognizing features of a concept (factual knowledge) is different from having knowledge of using the information to make a decision about the knowledge. (metacognitive knowledge)
Example: The Civil War: Factual knowledge: Dates, places, battles
The Civil War: Metacognitive Placing date of civil war into
understanding of that society.
