3 School Institution for educating children Traditional school vs. Home schooling Traditional: teacher-centered delivery of instruction to classes of students who are the receivers of information Home: parents choose to educate their children at home instead of sending them to a traditional public or private school

4 Public vs. Private vs. Charter
Public: school funded by government money and regulated by federal government Private: a school supported by a private organization or private individuals rather than by the government Charter: a publicly funded, but independently operated school under the terms of a charter with a local or national authority (not subject to same regulations as public school.

12 Imperialism Policy extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force Existentialism Philosophy that emphasizes the existence of the individual as a free agent who determines their development on their own.

13 Social Reproduction Production and Reproduction of goods, services, culture and social norms from one generation to the next by the institutions and individuals of a society. “production of goods and services and the production of life are part of the same integrated process”

14 Cultural Genocide Purposeful and systematic destruction of traditions, values, language, and other elements of a culture
