3 Graduation Requirements
9 HUMANITIES CREDITS ENGLISH CREDITS SOCIAL STUDIES CREDITS (World History, Civics and US History) HUMANITIES ELECTIVES – 2.0 CREDITS (includes Performing & Visual Arts) 9 STEM CREDITS MATH CREDITS SCIENCE CREDITS (including Biology, Chemistry, .5 Systems & Sustainability & .5 or 1.0 Physics) MATH or SCIENCE – 1.0 ADDITIONAL CREDIT STEM ELECTIVES – 1.5 CREDITS (includes Technology Education & Agri-Science) OTHER CREDIT REQUIREMENTS WORLD LANGUAGE – 1.0 CREDIT PE CREDIT HEALTH – 1.0 CREDIT (includes .5 CPR/First Aid) MASTERY BASED DIPLOMA PROJECT CREDIT ELECTIVES – 4.0 CREDITS TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION = 26 See your counselor to double check if you are meeting all requirements

4 When selecting courses….
Minimum of 8.0 credits (7.5 -PE mass scheduled after selections) Select 4 alternate electives (MUST BE DIFFERENT FROM 1st CHOICE ELECTIVES) Teacher Recommendations! Challenge yourself! Counselor & Parent input Consider your career interests Do not select based upon teacher or friends! You are not guaranteed all courses you select Teacher recommendations!!! especially important for math!! Consider seeing the teacher that currently teaches that class

5 9th Grade Core Courses (Required to Graduate)
English 9 World History Modern Math (Integrated Math I, Algebra I or Geometry) Biology Systems & Sustainability(.50) Physical Education (.50) 1.0 World Language credit is required by the end of senior year. WL credit earned at LMS satisfies this requirement. Levels are recommended by your current 8th grade teachers and counselor. See your teachers or counselor if you would like to discuss level placements.

6 9th Grade Elective Areas
HUMANITIES All Music & Art offerings Drama, Anthropology & Current Issues (English & SS) STEM Agri-Science (STEM credit) Technology Education (STEM credit) WORLD LANGUAGE (1.0 credit required) GENERAL ELECTIVES Accounting (Business & Finance) All Family Consumer Science offerings Students will be choosing 3 credits worth of electives from these areas. Plus 4 to 5 Alternates.

World Language Spanish 1 or 2 French 1 or 2 Humanities (English & SS Dept) Drama Anthropology Current Issues Agri-Science (STEM) Agri-Science & Technology I If you want more detailed information you can always refer to the Program of Studies Book.

8 Music Men’s or Women’s Chorus * Symphonic Band Guitar I
Beginning Music Keyboarding Music Appreciation Music Theory (must be in band or chorus) Jazz * Higher level choral placement by audition. All Music electives count as Humanities credit. Count for Fine Arts/Vocational credit. Many of these courses are pre-req’s for higher levels.

9 Business & Technology Accounting I (Elective credit) Metals I Woods I
Power Mechanics Introduction to Engineering Design * Principles of Engineering* Computer Science Principles* Digital Electronics* * Project Lead The Way All Technology Education courses count as STEM credit. IED- Either taking or completed Alg 1. POE -taking or completed Geom. Electronics – completed Alg 1 with C- or higher. Fine Arts/Voc Credit

11 Project Lead The Way The following courses, when combined with traditional math and science courses, introduce students to the scope, rigor, and discipline of engineering prior to entering college. Introduction to Engineering Design * Principles of Engineering * Digital Electronics * Civil Engineering and Architecture Computer Science Principles (AP option) * Dual-enrollment program with the University of New Haven

12 Student Class Registration
Log on to Parent or Student Portal Click Class Registration Click the Pencil icon to register for classes

13 Choose the Course that has been recommended for you and click Okay.
Continue selecting your course recommendations and choosing your electives as well as alternates until credit hour requirements have been met. Click Submit

14 Online Course Selection
LMS Teachers will make level recommendations for core subjects. Course selections MUST be submitted online. If you question a recommendation SUBMIT ANYWAY, then contact LMS counselor. Online registration portal for course selection will be open Feb. 27- March 11, 2019. Review and answer questions
