Supplies Needed for Project & Party
Math
We are retesting the last math test today. It was mentioned in the agenda. We practiced strategies and questions and clarified most misconceptions. We are also working on measurement. They have discovered the difference between an inch, centimeter, foot, yard and meter by creating their own rulers that equal that amount.
A gentle reminder that each student needs their own shoe box and tub of icing for the party Friday. I can’t believe this week is here already!
The Economics display for 2nd grade was a HUGE success! They will set up Monday so their 1st grade buddies can see what they’ve done and then again Tuesday afternoon so they can “shop”!

Reading
Thank you to the students that brought in examples of simple machines. They are everywhere! If they have not watched the videos yet, please set time aside to view. We are sorting, drawing, and identifying examples of all six.
Make a point of reading daily during break. It’s important. Have them tell you basically what the whole thing is about (main idea) and give 3 specific details that support that theme (supporting details). Ask them to predict what may happen next. Ask them to describe the characters in the story. If they’re reading a non-fiction book, ask them to tell you new facts they’ve learned and connections they made when reading. Reading is thinking! Tell them to ask about new words.
