1 Monday, November 25th – Winter Extravaganza (4:00-8:00)
2nd – 6th Rockstars Mahaney Killebrew 2nd Grade Literacy  I can develop oral vocabulary. I can recognize cause and effect in a text. I can summarize the text by telling the most important parts of the text. 3rd Grade Literacy  I can draw conclusions by using what I know about the text.  I can recognize that a compound word is made from two smaller base words.  I can use the questioning strategy to aid comprehension.  I can understand the elements of a fantasy. 2nd Grade Science  I can identify what makes up a balanced diet. I can explain how to use the food pyramid guide. 3rd Grade Science I can understand the interdependence of plants and animals within their environments and the adaptations organisms undergo to survive. 2nd Grade Math – My 2nd Graders will be using bar models to solve real world addition and subtraction word problems. 3rd Grade Math - My 3rd graders will be working on using bar models to solve 2-step real-world addition and subtraction word problems. 2nd Grade Social Studies - The 2nd Grade class will be studying about the Westward Movement. 3rd Grade Social Studies - My 3rd graders will continue their study of the thirteen colonies. 4th Grade Social Studies - My two 4th grade classes will be studying Kentucky's Explorers and Settlers as well as the French and Indian War. November 11-15 Weekly Reminders Tuesday, November 19th – Have all items for your homeroom basket turned in Monday, November 25th – Winter Extravaganza (4:00-8:00) If anyone would like to sell a variety box of candy, please send a note to your child's homeroom teacher.  Rogers 4th Grade Literacy – In Literacy class students will continue to learn comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be able to draw inferences from a story or passage. Students will also work with weekly vocabulary words, as well as, grade level sight words.  5th Grade Literacy - In Literacy class students will build upon their prior knowledge of comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be able to correctly compare and contrast events and characters from a story. Students will also be able to make inferences or predictions based on their prior knowledge.

2 Linder Wells We will continue to work with Ratio and Ratio Word Problems this week. There is a link to a great website on my Live Binder page.  Students have already been working on this site, so they will be familiar with the process.  5th Social Studies I can describe dilemmas West Africans faced as slaves. I can write a journal entry describing a day in the life of a West African. 6th Social Studies I can use the  five themes of geography to describe a country in Europe or South America. I can use Wiki and Wordle to showcase my  country research project.  5th Math I can add and subtract mixed numbers. I can solve real world problems involving fractions and mixed numbers. I can multiply with whole numbers and proper fractions. I can multiply proper fractions. . Crowder Math - In math this week we will be practicing division (3-digit numbers divided by 1 and 2 digit numbers). Please continue to practice your multiplication! Science - We will continue with weather this week! We  will be creating our own weather forecasts! Bowen Science- We will be testing this week and preparing for science fair projects! Be looking for more info to come.  2pts extra credit for 2 liter bottles being donated for our Winter Extravaganza. Language- we are working on inserting similes and metaphors into our writing this week!  Ask your child what the differences in the two are as well as similarities. Rice Writer's Workshop We will be continuing our work on writing letters. We will write a letter to our favorite author, TV star, movie star, singer, etc.  Daily Five We are continuing our study on Inference and Drawing Conclusions. We will look at Non-Fiction writing and drawing out the differences between the Non-Fiction and Fiction.
