4 DEVELOPMENT OF THE STANDARD LIST Standard List of Eye Medicines developed by CBM in the late 1980s Eye Instruments & Equipment added shortly after SL shared with other NGOs at Partnership Committee in 1990. Global S.L. created for PC Members 1995 (approx) - ICEH took over responsibility for updating, publishing & distribution

5 DEVELOPMENT OF THE STANDARD LIST IAPB VISION 2020 Appropriate Technology Workshop, Sydney 2002 The meeting stated that there were 3 elements to Appropriate Technology 1.Development of appropriate equipment and making it available to those who need it 2.Making information about Technology accessible 3.Planning equipment, servicing and service training

6 DEVELOPMENT OF THE STANDARD LIST 2002 - IAPB Technology WG responsible VISION 2020 Standard List born 2010 – todate – renamed IAPB Standard List First edition was an exact copy of the CBM SL Technology WG ensured the accuracy and revamped the content CBM and Sightsavers merged their respective lists to correspond with V2020 SL Focus was always on District Level Field testing of new equipment introduced – Gold Standard

8 Led by IAPB, six major eye health NGOs formed a coalition to improve quality control and maximise value for money. Aim to engage with manufacturers & suppliers and leverage the buying power of the eye care sector
