1 Regional Development Research Museum
Groups of TWO only. You will divide your poster paper into 4 quadrants, each of them will have information thoroughly explaining the indicators for the development of your region. You will be using your textbook as well as internet research on your phone or computer to find your information that will be displayed. Be concise but authentic and thorough. First, at the top of the butcher paper write if your region qualifies are MORE or LESS developed. Quadrant 1: Map Identify your region, shade in your region on the map, display its HDI, GET THIS OFF OF THE INTERNET…YOUR BOOK IS OLD!!! Sum up its development characteristics only using 6 words, and draw 2 annotations that sum up your regions development characteristics…help us remember something important about your region, explain the annotations on the paper. Quadrant 2: Demographic Indicators Identify and explain the life expectancy, infant mortality rate (IMR), natural increase rate (NIR), crude birth rate (CBR). Also explain the most pressing demographic issue facing your region. The pressing issue will most likely need internet research, but remember, you must choose a problem that affects the region as whole but you can explain details of it by using a specific country example. Quadrant 3: Social Indicators Identify and explain the average years of schooling, student/teacher ratio, literacy rate. Research and explain a typical day for a school aged child, and differences or similarities between the experiences of a girl vs. boy in the region (you may choose a specific country in your region to use as an example for the typical school day and girl vs. boy experience). Quadrant 4: Economic Indicators Identify and explain your regions GDP per capita, types of jobs (primary? Secondary? Tertiary? Give examples.), productivity (access to machinery? value added?), raw materials (major exports? energy resources?) and consumer goods (research specific transportation and communication companies). This section might need the most internet research, but always start first with your book to see what is already there!
