2 Vocabulary Observe – Gather information using your senses
Infer – You make a statement after observing Predict – A good guess based on what you know or think stating what will happen. If…..,then…. Investigation – Scientists plan and carry out one of these to answer their questions Hypothesis – Statement that will answer a question you want to investigate Experiment – Investigation in which you use variables. Something that can be tested. Variable – The one factor you change in an experiment Model – Something that is like the real thing, but not exactly

3 Important details Scientists raise questions about Earth and the universe and seek answers to some of them by careful investigation. Be able to explain how an investigation will be set up to answer a question through the scientific method. Describe what a variable would be in a variety of experiments. State when using a model would be helpful during an investigation
