The American Revolution was a political upheaval that took place between 1765 and 1783 during which the Thirteen American Colonies broke from the British Empire and formed an independent nation, the United States of America.
The American Revolution was the result of a series of social, political, and intellectual transformations in American society, government and ways of thinking.

7. Sugar Act & Stamp Act
British taxed colonists on many of the goods coming into the colonies from other places.
British imposed taxes upon all paper products and stamped the item once the tax had been played.

8. Quartering Act
The act stated that colonists had to agree to give British troops food and let them stay in their homes.

9. Boston Massacre
Since the colonists boycotted the goods taxed, King George withdrew the taxes on everything but tea.
The colonists met the British soldiers in Boston and one colonist threw a snowball.
The angry soldiers shot bullets at the colonists leaving 5 colonists dead.

10. Boston Tea Party The British put a tax on tea.
A large group of men boarded British ships and dumped thousands of pounds of East India’s tea into the harbor. Crowds of onlookers gathered to celebrate the rebellious1 act.

11. Intolerable Acts
The British responded quickly and harshly to the Boston Tea Party.
In 1774, they passed several measures known as the Intolerable Acts.
They closed the Boston port and made it difficult for the major city to function.
