Intention Provide our children with access to technology while also protecting our personal information, privacy, and filtering child access to certain categories

Statistics 73% of teenage kids have a smartphone
Kids spend an average of 7.5 hours a day on an electronic device (TV, computer, phone, etc) 75% of kids take their phone to bed and 95% of those check social media during the night

Overview Some parents wish to control which features, apps, and content a child can and cannot access. You can restrict certain apps, change content and rating, turn off certain features and more

Changing Your Password on the IPAD
If you child is older and sophisticated and they know the passcode, they can then undo the settings Change your password by going to Settings and Touch ID and Passcode.

Enabling Restrictions on iOS11 (For those who did not download latest update)

Turn off the APPs you do not want your child to use

Click on Setting and tap the General Category Tap Restrictions Enable Restrictions and create a password

Downtime, App Limits, and Restrictions On IPhone and IPAD
Tap Screen Time The first time you open Screen Time, you’ll see a splash screen with the option to Set up as a Parent, tap that Follow the prompts to add restrictions by customizing Downtime, App Limits, Content & Privacy, and creating your Parent Passcode If you’d like to make any adjustments, you can always return to Settings → Screen Time Set up as parent Downtime: Only certain apps, calls, text messages are allowed for the set time period App Limit: Limit the amount of time an app can be used each day Restrict Content and Settings

Content And Privacy Restrictions
Turn off certain apps / privacy features How to set Restrictions on iPhone and iPad in iOS 12 Launch Settings from your Home screen. Tap Screen Time. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Enter a four-digit passcode and then confirm it. Tap the switch next to Content & Privacy. Tap Allowed apps. Tap the switch(es) next to the app or apps you'd like to disable.

Youtube You can set Parental Controls on YouTube
Go to YouTube.com and Sign In Scroll down to Safety Mode (aka Restricted Mode) and click “On” To lock these changes, click “Lock Safety (Restricted) Mode on this browser.” Restricted mode relies on users flagging videos and only works on the browser you logged into YouTube with Lock restricted mode

Setting Up Family Link You need an Android phone, tablet or iPhone or iPad (for you) An android phone for your child Download the app, start a family group, and link your account to your child. One group has a max of four members Link your child’s Google account

Family Link Features Your child’s phone must be an Android device. IPHONES will not work Install family link on the child device and sign in with their Google account On the parent side, you can restrict apps for your child, block sites through the app on your phone. Parents receive notices when a child tries to download an app. You can also limit the time a child spends on their phone Children and teens can sign in to their Google Account on Chromebooks. Parents can do things like manage their child’s Chromebook and account settings, and set website restrictions. If the child’s device is powered on, recently active, and connected to the internet, you can see a location map of where they are. Parents can also use Family Link to create restrictions for how children browse the web Screen Time can be used to set limits for how long a child can use a phone each day

Chrome Extensions store/category/extensions “Search the store” on the top left and search for Parental Control Install TinyFilter or Fox Web Secruity TinyFilter is a light-weight and FREE web content filtering application which monitors browser activities and blocks inappropriate or offensive content. The extension helps you fully customize your filtering preferences and sensitivity settings so that any inappropriate or offensive content is filtered.

Open Settings. Click on Accounts. Click on Family & other people. Under "Your family," click the Manage family settings online option.

**Your child must be using Microsoft Edge in order to restrict their internet use. This feature will not work with Chrome or Firefox. Here, you can see what the child is doing online and change restrictions
