are structures used by writers in their works to convey his or her message in a simple manner to the readers. When used properly they help readers appreciate, interpret and analyze the literary work. Ex. Point of View (POV), REFRAIN, REPETITION, ALLITERATION, ASSONANCE, SIMILE, METAPHOR, PERSONIFICATION, IRONY, etc…

Point of View The Point of view can be the actual poet him/herself, but may also be an animal, an inanimate object, or a fictional character.
