What’s New? - Validate Content
A new content validation button will allow users to validate their COS Service Devices' content outside of the daily, automatic content validation window (12:00 am - 3:00 am CT). Within the Service Devices tab, the user will have the ability to click the "Validate All" button to update all COS Service Devices attached to that configuration. The user can also select particular COS Service Devices and, using the Actions button, validate them independently from any other listed COS Service Device. While a COS Service Device's content is being validated, both the corresponding Content Management indicator (CM) and overall configuration will turn yellow - indicating an update is taking place. Once the content validation has completed, everything will return to green - indicating the configuration and COS Service Device(s) are fully functional. 8
9
What’s New? - Validate Content
All content that is downloaded to the COS Service Device, (all programs that are checked under the Content Management tab,) will be validated during the validation process. A site can use this option to ensure all of their downloaded testing content is valid. 9

Reminders 10
11
Reminder – Secure Practice Test with Response Transmission
Available August 6, 2018 – April 30, 2019 Form content has been enhanced by duplicating items in order to more accurately represent the load placed on the district/school system when operational testing is taking place. The new Technology Enhanced items are not available in the Secure Practice Test with Response Transmission. Use Experience Online Testing Georgia or Secure Practice Test (without Response Transmission) to practice with the new Technology Enhanced items. Copying a test session in eDIRECT will be allowed in order to accommodate those that desire a student be able to take a particular assessment multiple times. Students will be loaded from Winter and Spring Pre-ID files. Test Sessions will not be created when the Pre-ID files are loaded. Multiple Student Upload can also be used to add students, test sessions will be created with this method of adding students. If using the same file to upload students multiple times, you will need to change the Teacher Name to create a unique test session name. 11
12
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic
Provides solution to avoid a network connection error that disconnected students from testing or caused error flags previously on the TSM Results in fewer students disconnected from testing Continues attempting to connect for up to five minutes Removes the need for response caching that was previously used with a TSM 12
13
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic
If INSIGHT cannot send a test response to DRC due to connectivity issues, it displays the following error message. 13
14
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic
INSIGHT attempts to send the test response to DRC for five minutes. During this time, the following scenarios may occur: Scenario I: A connection is re-established quickly. In this situation, the error message closes and the tester continues testing. Note that this situation could occur very quickly, even before a test proctor has had time to contact the tester. Scenario II: The tester is directed to close the message (clicks Exit the Test). In this situation, a test proctor directs the tester to click Exit the Test, INSIGHT closes, and testing ends for the tester. Note: All test information is saved and tester can resume testing at same point in the test when they re-enter the test. 14
15
Reminder – Extended Retry Logic
Scenario III: The tester is directed to wait and to leave the message displayed. In this situation, one of two things occur: If a network connection is re-established within five minutes, the test response is sent to DRC, the message closes automatically, and the tester can continue testing. If a network connection is not re-established within five minutes, the message closes and an Internet Connection Error message displays, requiring the tester to exit INSIGHT by clicking OK. 15
16
Reminder – INSIGHT Portal Page

17
Reminder – eDIRECT Permissions
Reference the Permissions Matrix in the eDIRECT User Guide Each user will be assigned a set of permissions (district/school level), to allow the user to handle testing responsibilities Assign those permissions to appropriate district- or school-level personnel that assist in trouble-shooting Example, “Test Tickets - Unlock” permission 17
18
Reminder – Looking Forward: COS
As of the EOC August Mid-Month (August 6), all districts should have transitioned from the TSM to COS Service Devices for Content Caching DRC will no longer be supporting the TSM for Content Caching for Milestones, WIDA Screener, ACCESS for ELLs 2.0. Using the TSM for Response Caching is allowed but not recommended. The TSM will not be available or supported for Content Caching or Response Caching in 18

COS Configurations 1. Creating a New Configuration
31
32
Create a COS Configuration
After you have installed a COS Service Device, you must create an initial configuration referencing the COS Service Device to associate it with your testing devices. This section describes how to create the initial COS association. DRC provides a wizard to help you with this process. When you finish installing the COS Service Device, if you are not signed in to eDIRECT, you must sign in. If you are already signed in to eDIRECT, see next page. 32
33
Create a COS Configuration
After you finish installing the COS Service Device, if you are signed in to the eDIRECT, the End User License Agreement for DRC Software window displays. Read the agreement, check the I Agree checkbox, and click Accept (you must accept the agreement to continue). 33
34
Create a COS Configuration
When the configuration wizard displays, you can name the COS Service Device to help you identify it in the COS-DTK dashboard. The name displays anytime you view the device in COS-DTK. If you do not name the COS Service Device, only the Device ID, generated by DRC, displays. Consider including the school’s name when creating the COS Service Device as a means of organizing your COS Service Devices 34
35
Create a COS Configuration
Enter a name for the configuration that will help you identify it easily. This can be the same or different than the name of the device that was defined in a previous step. To enable automatic DRC INSIGHT secure browser software updates, select Enable Auto Update. When you select Enable Auto Update, DRC updates the DRC INSIGHT secure browser software automatically. To specify an HTTP proxy host server, move the Proxy Host toggle to Yes and enter the server name (or IP address) and port number (separated by a colon), followed by a forward slash (/), in the Proxy Path field. When you are ready, click Next. 35

68
Load Balancing Content Hosting
68
69
Load Balancing Content Hosting
Prerequisites to creating a load-balanced pool of COS Service Devices You must have already installed and configured your load balancing hardware and software – this is external to the DRC INSIGHT system You must know the IP address of your load balancer You must know how to “point” the load balancer to each COS Service Device in the load-balanced pool You must have a shared network location for test content, know the network share path to the location, and all of the COS Service Devices in the load‑balanced pool must have access to the shared location. This path must be available from every Content Hosting device in the load‑balanced pool. 69
70
Load Balancing Software Based
Software based load balancing - This method allows round robin persistent client connections based on the total count of COS Service Devices setup in the COS DTK Configuration. 70
71
Load Balancing Resources
Load balancing resources can be found in the Technical User Guide, Volume III within eDIRECT. Steps to create a pool of COS Service Device and utilize the round robin distribution of Testing Devices can be found in the Technical User Guide, Volume III within eDIRECT. 71

Alternate method is to download the app directly from the App Store and configure it manually. Automatic Assessment Configuration Preferred method for invoking kiosk mode Use in place of Guided Access, Single App Mode and Autonomous Single App Mode Built into INSIGHT app Automatically starts and stops Will automatically disable kiosk mode within 8 hours after unplanned exit from app Automatically disables features when the app starts Check Spelling Predictive Text Auto-Correction Auto-Capitalization 84
85
INSIGHT Installation – iOS (iPads)
If Use the COS-DTK to create configurations If MDM supports the Managed App Configuration feature, this can be used to configure multiple iPad devices. If MDM does not support the Managed App Configuration, use the MDM to deploy the software, but each iPad must be manually registered. Install the DRC INSIGHT App on iPads. Download the app from the App Store Create the ios.plist configuration file in the DTK. Deploy the app and configuration file using MDM. Launch DRC INSIGHT. The iPad devices are automatically registered with INSIGHT once launched. 85
86
Virtual Desktops/Thin Clients
INSIGHT has been used successfully on virtual desktop environments nComputing Citrix Wyse VMWare The virtual desktop session must emulate one of the supported operating systems. The virtual desktop server must have sufficient resources to support all students that will be testing concurrently. Special attention must be paid to the security risks inherent to testing in a virtual desktop environment. 86
87
Virtual Desktops/Thin Clients
Virtual desktop environments are supported for the Georgia Milestones Assessments, they are not supported for WIDA ACCESS for ELLs Assessment. DRC does not support the use of online audio accommodations (Text-to-Speech) in virtual desktop environments. Often find audio quality in such environments is poor, which could prevent the audio accommodation from functioning as designed. Other options for delivery of the audio accommodations in the Virtual Desktop/Thin Client environment Human reader in an online test administration Human readers must use the posted Read-Aloud Guidelines that appear on the Georgia Milestones GaDOE webpage under Test Administration & Educator Resources Use desktop, laptop, or other non-virtual desktops for students with audio accommodations You may use a virtual desktop to host a COS-SD, and virtual desktops running INSIGHT can connect to a COS-SD Because virtual desktop environment setups can vary, you may encounter unique issues Setup should be good as long as the physical machine the virtual environment is running on meets minimum technical requirements When in doubt, contact Customer Service 87
88
Preparing for Testing Complete the setup of your COS Service Devices, your configurations in the COS-DTK, and your INSIGHT installations on your test machines. Ensure students access Online Tools Training (OTT) Hands-on opportunity to practice using testing tools Can be used to check that the testing engine is working Online Audio Accommodations Ensure appropriate numbers of headphones are available for students Ensure that paper testing materials have been ordered for all students that will not be testing online (e.g. students with Braille or Large Print accommodations) 88
