1 Newtonian Physics

2 Newton’s 1st Law- Law of Inertia
An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and direction UNLESS a force is acted upon it. Inertia- the tendency of an object to keep moving at the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by a force. Gravity is the force acting on a planet to continually change its direction.

3 Example of 1st Law

4 Newton’s 2nd Law- The Force Law
Acceleration of an object is proportional to the force acting on it. Force is equal to mass x acceleration F=ma heavier objects require more force to move the same distance as lighter objects

5 2nd Law

6 Newton’s 3rd Law- Law of Action/Reaction
every action has an equal and opposite reaction for every force there is a reaction force that is equal in size, but opposite in direction. whenever an object pushes another object it gets pushed back in the opposite direction equally hard.

7 3rd Law
