Generally follow a similar overall structure: Introduction Body Conclusion They both require support They both require credibility They both require solid delivery Persuasive speeches demonstrate values more directly.

3 They Differ in Purpose Informative Speeches Persuasive Speeches
To Demonstrate or Show To Explain Persuasive Speeches To Convince or Argue Change a position (or policy) Reinforce or reaffirm a position Instill a position Act on a position Sometimes there is a thin line between the two types of speeches.

Persuasive speeches require different organizational pattern in the body of the speech. Persuasive speakers need to justify arguments more. Trust is the most important element of credibility.
