Sports Inclusion Model
Inclusive sport offers ALL children, athletes and players with a disability, the opportunity to realise their full potential in physical activity including sport, by providing open, modified, parallel and discrete sports options appropriate to their individual needs, abilities and environment

Key Messages Develop more inclusive opportunities locally through our Branches and local authority partners for children, athletes and players with a disability Sustain a regional network providing support to children, athletes and players with a disability with performance potential and linking local and national programmes More sports working inclusively to ensure robust and sustainable pathways for children, athletes and players with a disability to meet their full potential Develop inclusive coaching and education structures to provide Scotland’s coaches and volunteers with the skills and knowledge required to support children, athletes and players with a disability Sufficient resources are in place to ensure the future of disability sport in Scotland Effectively communicate with partners and stakeholders and explicitly lead the development of disability sport in Scotland

Local to Regional Opportunities Managers appointed People’s Post Code
SDS Professional Officer’s Group 184 local coaches supported 231 young disabled people attended Talent ID & Development Days 30 athletes and players progressed onto Regional Squads Jen Livingstone & Mark Gaffney now in post with a specific remit to support the work of the SDS Branches Peoples Postcode Lottery – 18 opportunities supported across 8 SDS Branches or Regions

International Success
WCF Wheelchair Curling World Championships CPISRA Intercontinental Championships INAS World Athletics Championships Deaflympics Paratriathlon European Championships BISFed European Boccia Championships European Wheelchair Rugby Championships IPC World Swimming Championships IPC World Athletics Championships IBBA World Championships 4 Gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze medals Scottish athletes and players also enjoyed considerable success on the international stage during the last 12 months. The following are a sample of international events attended during the last year with successes including: ETU Paratriathlon European Championships in Turkey – Jane Egan secured her title in a row with the gold medal in the Tri-1 category BISFed European Boccia Championships in Portugal – Josh Rowe won gold medal in the BC1/2 Team event, Scott McCowan won a bronze medal in the BC3 Pairs event and Keiran Steer, Jamie McCowan and Stephen McGuire won a god medal in the BC4 Pairs event Wheelchair Rugby European Championships in Belgium – Michael Kerr was a member of the bronze medal winning GB team IPC World Swimming Championships in Canada – Andrew Mullen won silver medal in the S5 50m and a bronze in the 50m Butterfly, James Clegg won a bronze medal in the S12 400m Freestyle IPC World Athletics Championships in France – Libby Clegg won silver medals in the T12 100m & 200m

Education & Coaching Education Scotland/sportsotland support for UKDIT in 32 local authorities 114 education and training opportunities delivered 1,563 course participants Inclusive coaching developments with 17 SGB’s Successful Coaching Matters Conference attracting 35 delegates across 10 sports External Review of Coaching, Education, Development & Training External Review - results were very positive with virtually all (98%) stating that the training had been effective or very effective. 90% indicated that the training had had an impact on their teaching 75% had shared their learning from the course with workplace colleagues

Communication 3,701 average monthly website visits
SDS Facebook (369 Likes) and Twitter (761 Followers) 2 Electronic Newsletters distributed SDS History produced Events Communications Plan Coaches, volunteers, athletes and players recognised Website – Average monthly visits to the website for the last 12 months were 3,701, a 31% increase on last year. Lyndon Williams named sportscotland Disability Coach of the Year and Shona Malcolm named sportscotland Technical official of the Year. Our Chairman, Gordon McCormack was awarded an OBE as was wheelchair curling guru Kate Caithness. Paralympians Neil Fachie, Craig MacLean and David Smith awarded MBE’s following their gold medal performances in London

SDS Minimum Operating Requirements
SDS Management Board Considers the following Branch has fully met the SDS MOR Dumfries & Galloway Disability Sport The SDS Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR) for governance, communication, child and vulnerable adult protection and sports development has been introduced across all 14 local branches over the last 3 years. The SDS Management Board has now considered all submissions and is delighted to announce that the following branches have fully met the SDS MOR This will now be an ongoing process to support al branches to meet the minimum requirements.
