Risk assessments are available by request and on the PGL website Centres are subject to the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority regulations (AALA) where appropriate ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) bonded means your money is protected BAHA – British Activity Holiday Association. Responsible for establishing operating guidelines for the activity holiday industry.

Mansion House - Rooms sleep 8-14 Lodges – En suite rooms sleep 4-6 Frame Tents on solid bases sleep 4 Accommodation is in the mansion house, lodges and tents. Rooms in the mansion house have toilets and showers close by Tents are on solid bases with frame beds. Toilets and showers are close by.

9 Staying safe! All centres and activities are fully risk assessed every year. The PGL Code of Practice describes all safety and operational procedures both on and off-site including: sample risk assessments staff to pupil ratios staff vetting and training equipment specifications site security medical cover emergency procedures All centres and activities are fully risk assessed every year The PGL Code of Practice details all the control measures put in place to minimise risk Sample risk assessments are available on line and specific assessments are available from PGL on request All our instructors are specifically trained for our programmes to ensure the delivery of safe and rewarding sessions across a wide range of activities The staff recruitment process is as follows: Detailed application form completed and submitted Vetted by a dedicated HQ recruitment officer Verification of all references, List 99 check and Criminal Records Bureau clearance obtained Successful applicants undergo a compulsory probationary period lasting a minimum of ten days Original qualification certificates checked Prior to the beginning of the operating season, instructors and group leaders who have not worked for PGL before attend a residential training course Job offer confirmed. On-going support, development training and assessment under the supervision of Senior Instructors. At every PGL centre you will find an experienced and professional Centre Manager who is in charge of Centre operations and has overall responsibility for the success of your course and the performance of our staff. Operating procedures conform to NGB guidelines where these are relevant to the activity in question and the level being undertaken. Through the Quality Badge Programme you can be confident that recognised providers fulfil all the necessary criteria as laid down by the DCSF, thereby better enabling Party Leaders to manage visits safely, efficiently and beneficially.

10 FAQ’s What to take with you – pleaser refer to PGL’s kit list ( leaflet given or access on PGL website) Pocket money – £20 maximum Valuable items – best left at home Electrical appliances – must be safe Deodorants – roll-on only please Bedding- sleeping bag and pillow Contacting your child – leave mobile phones at home Please do not bring food products containing nuts due to nut allergies Pocket money - It is very much up to you however, as a guide, £10 for sweets and souvenirs What to pack and valuable items - Please limit luggage to one case/bag per person and one item of hand luggage for carrying food etc. on the journey The kit list is provided on the Parent Information Leaflets however we would like to stress that: Brand new and expensive items (such as mobile phones) should be left at home Old, casual clothes are recommended Pack more clothes if it is likely to be wet weather. All clothing should be marked with the student’s name and school. Electrical appliances - Guests are responsible for the safety of any electrical appliances brought to centre. The Centre Manager reserves the right to ask for appliances not to be used if they appear to be unsafe. Deodorants - It is advised that children bring roll-on deodorants rather than aerosol deodorants as these can often set off fire alarms. Laundry facilities - There are limited laundry facilities on centre and therefore they can only be used in an emergency. Contacting your child - Parents are asked not to call the centre except in an emergency. Children are involved in an activity programme often on a large site and may be some distance away from the phone.

11 Departure Day Wednesday Morning
Please arrive at normal time Bring luggage to Y4 veranda (1 case or bag per child ). Sleeping bag and pillow in a black bag with your child’s name on it. Bring a packed lunch (plastic bottles only) Send in any medication in a clear plastic bag with your child’s name on, stating the dosage required and when it is needed and a signature giving consent for us to administer the medication.
