The name French and Indian War refers to the war Britain fought against its two main enemies in North America: 1. The French 2. And the Native Americans allied with the French

5 As part of the British Empire, the Colonists were expected to fight along side the British against the French and the Native Americans

6 British-American Colonial Tensions
Colonials British Methods of Fighting: Indian-style guerilla tactics. March in formation or bayonet charge. Military Organization: Col. militias served under own captains. British officers wanted to take charge of colonials. Military Discipline: No military deference or protocols observed. Drills & tough discipline. Finances: Resistance to rising taxes. Colonists should pay for their own defense. Demeanor: Casual, non-professionals. Formal British officers with servants & tea settings. 1. It increased her colonial empire in the Americas. 2. It greatly enlarged England’s debt. 3. Created contempt for the colonists Therefore, England felt that a major reorganization of her American Empire was necessary!
