2 What are anxiety & panic disorders?
When worry or fear keep you from doing everyday tasks Period(s) of intense fear brought on very rapidly, and this feeling lasts a short time.

3 Anxiety & Panic Disorders
Diagnosed in people who experience spontaneous seemingly out-of-the-ordinary panic attacks and/or the fear of having panic attack(s). About six million people experience panic attacks every year There is treatment for panic attacks.

4 Agoraphobia Accompanied with anxiety and panic.
Avoiding public places where feeling of tension or having a panic attack occurred previously.

Disorders for anxiety include: Generalized anxiety disorder Obsessive-compulsive disorder Panic disorder and agoraphobia Social anxiety disorder Specific phobias Depression Stress

Stress job/school Genetics Change Moving Trauma Loosing something/someone

8 Physical Symptoms Gastronomical issues  stomach ache
Eye sight issues dizziness, cloudiness Equilibrium  Loss of balance Breathing  loss of breath, compressing of the chest, uncontrollable breathing patterns Internal Issues  feel as your having a heart attack, loss of emotional control, loss of bodily control( shaking, sweating, crying, loss of sleep)

9 Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a pattern of frequent, constant worry and anxiety over many different activities and events. Symptoms: Constant worries and stress even when there is no cause Restlessness, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, problems falling or staying asleep, sleeplessness Physical effects such as muscle tension, hypertension, stomach problems

11 Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). Symptoms: Obsessions or compulsions that are not due to medical illness or drug use. Obsessions or compulsions that cause major distress or interfere with everyday life.

13 Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia
Panic disorder with agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder in which there are repeated attacks of intense fear and anxiety, and a fear of being in places where escape might be difficult, or where help might not be available. Symptoms: Chest pain or discomfort, Choking, dizziness or faintness, fear of being out of control, fear of dying, fear of "going crazy“, hot flashes or chills, nausea or other stomach distress, numbness or tingling, Racing heart, shortness of breath, sweating, trembling.

15 Social Anxiety Disorder
Social phobia is a persistent and irrational fear of situations that may involve scrutiny or judgment by others, such as parties and other social events. Symptoms: Blushing Difficulty talking Nausea Profuse sweating Trembling Hypertension High heart rate

17 Specific Phobias A specific phobia is an intense, irrational fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. Some of the more common specific phobias are centered around closed-in places, heights, escalators, tunnels, highway driving, water, flying, dogs, and injuries involving blood.

19 Depression Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods. Causes: Stressful life events, drug abuse, etc. Symptoms: Agitation, restlessness, irritability, dramatic change in appetite, often with weight gain of loss, concentrations difficulty, fatigue and lack of energy, feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, feelings of worthlessness self-hate, and guilt, etc.
