Supplies: blank sheet of paper, pencil, several various plastic fraction piece manipulatives
1. Get a blank piece of paper from the stack and your pencil.
2. Equivalent fractions are fractions that are the same even though they have different numbers.
3. Here is an example:
4. Now, I want you to take the plastic fraction pieces and use them as learning tools to explore how many different equivalent fractions you can make with them.
5. As you find an equivalent fraction, either hand draw or trace the blocks onto to the paper to show your matching sets. Make sure your work has your name on it and it is neat. You must have at least 3 equivalent fractions on your paper before it is complete.
