1 Grace Fellowship Church www.GraceDoctrine.org
Title Page Below are some simple instructions on how to use this template: 1. You can change the text in the graphical screen above or in the outline area to the left. 2. There is one default background that is indicated by “ ” .This slide acts as a space or a blank screen, use to clear or blank the screen. If you have a large graphic such as a map you could also use this screen. If you insert a new slide you will get this default background. 3. The first five slides have the other backgrounds for the set. To use more than one of these background types in your presentation highlight the one you wish to use and choose copy from the edit menu. Paste this slide where you want it to appear in your presentation, then change the text on this new slide. By copy/pasting the slide in this manor you will keep the background, text formatting and the customized animation from that slide. By using the copy/paste method you find it saves you time and keeps a consistent look through out your presentation. 4.There are a few additional notes written in the slide text wording that may be helpful. Note: We are working on a website that in the future will provide help topics on using sermon outlines in PowerPoint as well as provide sermon templates similar to this one. Check for more information. Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard Tuesday, January 26, 2010

4 John 15:2 Suffering for Blessing

5 A. Introduction: Suffering acts as a guardian or parent in life
A. Introduction: Suffering acts as a guardian or parent in life. Rom 5:1-5; 2 Peter 1:1-11

6 B. Suffering is used as a measurement of life.

7 1. Suffering never leaves the Christian as it found him; you are either the better or the worse for it.

8 2. No one stands still under pressure
2. No one stands still under pressure. You either move forward or regress.

9 3. If during suffering, the believer reacts through some form of sin, he starts to go backward.

10 3. If, during suffering, the believer reacts through some form of sin he starts to go backward. Respond with Doctrine, don’t react.

11 4. If you respond through the application of metabolized doctrine and are O. with J.C., you will advance in the spiritual life.

12 C. Suffering for Blessing Rationale.

13 1. For the believer inside GPS, all suffering is designed for blessing in terms of enhancing your wisdom and common sense in regards to God’s Word. Rom 8:28; James 1:2-4

14 Rom 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

15 James 1:2-4, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

16 2. When you are out of fellowship with God, all suffering is punitive in nature and designed for blessing on a limited scale:

17 To bring you back to reality, to the point of rebound and fellowship with God, to the point of recovery, and to show you that your scale of values is wrong and you must change your priorities.

18 Whatever suffering comes into your life, it is designed for blessing
Whatever suffering comes into your life, it is designed for blessing. Job 5:17; Prov 12:1; 15:32; Heb 12:5-11

19 Job 5:17, “Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.”

20 3. Punitive suffering is resolved by the confession of your sins and remaining inside GPS. Then all punitive suffering left over is converted to preventative suffering for blessing.

21 In addition, the suffering may be cut down or removed, since what you brought on yourself was more than you could handle, 1 Cor 10:13.

22 What God does not remove, he intends for us to bear, to endure, to handle, and to solve with Bible doctrine.

23 4. There are two applications from Punitive Suffering.

24 4. There are two applications from Punitive Suffering
4. There are two applications from Punitive Suffering. a) The resistance of future temptations.

25 4. There are two applications from Punitive Suffering
4. There are two applications from Punitive Suffering. a) The resistance of future temptations. b) The application of 1 John 1:9, when a sin occurs.

26 5. All suffering for blessing is designed for your advance to spiritual maturity, and the glorification of God by putting muscle on your spiritual life. Prov 3:11-12

27 6. There is no suffering too great for the Plan of God to resolve
6. There is no suffering too great for the Plan of God to resolve. 2 Cor 12:9-10
