The picture describes the exchange of goods from the Old World (Europe, Africa, Asia) to the New World (the Americas) 2. What does it show? Why is it important? It shows how new items were introduced to different parts of the world. It is important because these goods changed the culture and economics of the world.

It shows the drastic decline of the Native American population (from 25 million to little over a million). It is important to understand the impact the Spanish had on the indigenous culture.

Let him return. - Kwa chant about the disappearance of an African boy, Equiano This African chant mourns the loss of Olaudah Equiano, an 11-year-old boy and son of an African tribal leader who was kidnapped in 1755 from his home in what is now Nigeria. He was one of the 10 to 12 million Africans who were sold into slavery from the 15th through the 19th Centuries. "I believe there are few events in my life that have not happened to many," wrote Equiano in his Autobiography. The "many" he refers to are the Africans taken as free people and then forced into slavery in South America, the Caribbean and North America. What does this figure describe? It describes a father’s loss of his son to slavery. 2. What does it show? Why is it important? It shows us a first hand account of how slavery impacted so many Africans. The emotions presented here allow us to empathize with the tragedy of slavery.
