Marbury v. Madison 1803

2. Summary
It was president John Adams’ last term being president and he appealed many judges, one of these judges being William Marbury. Marbury’s commission was not delivered to him by the time Thomas Jefferson had become president, so Jefferson said that Marbury could not be a judge. Because of this Marbury filed a lawsuit.

3. Constitutional issue
The supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional for the supreme court to have to hear the case Marbury had claimed.

4. Supreme Court Ruling
The Supreme Court listened to Marbury’s case and agreed with everything he said about Jefferson being in the wrong so…..
The supreme Court declared the law that allowed them to hear the case due to its Jurisdiction was unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court sided with Marbury, then Jefferson would have just ignored the case.
If Jefferson would have ignored the case, it would have made the supreme court look not so supreme.

5. Final Decision
The Court ruled Unanimous Decision, in favor of the Supreme Court.
