2 Definition The general state of dread or uneasiness that occurs in response to a vague or imagined danger Physical signs and symptoms Trembling, sweating, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, increased blood pressure, flushed face, feelings of faintness, or light headedness

3 Types of Anxiety Disorders
Phobic Disorders Panic Disorders and Agoraphobia Generalized Anxiety Disorder Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Stress Disorders

4 Phobic Disorders A persistent, excessive or irrational fear of an object or a situation. Examples Is Ywc

5 Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia
Recurring, unexpected panic attacks characterized by rapid heart rate Agoraphobia is a panic disorder in which people fear being caught in crowded, public places when they have an attack

6 Generalized Anxiety Disorders
Excessive or unrealistic worry that appears to be present nearly all of the time

7 Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Unwanted thoughts or ideas (obsessions); impulses that are difficult or impossible to resist. such as repeated hand washing, (compulsions) connected with the idea that one’s hands remain unclean (an obsession)

8 Stress Disorder Intense, persistent feelings of anxiety that follow traumatic events PTSD may be accompanied by flashbacks, nightmares, and avoidance stimuli connected with a traumatic event. n-I
