3. 2019 Prom
DHS’s Junior-Senior Prom will be held on April 26, 2019 at the Georgia Aquarium Oceans Ballroom
Tickets are on sale for $100 until September 30, 2018
Tickets General Sale is October 1 – December 31, 2018 for $115
Final Sale of tickets is January 1, 2019 – February 28, for $130
Tickets will be issued on Friday, April 26, 2019

4. Grambling State University College Tour and Football Game
There will be a college tour trip to Grambling State University in Louisiana on September 22, 2018
The cost is $100
Cost includes: transportation, lunch, t-shirt, campus/dorm tours, gift bag, Eddie Robinson Museum tour, football game day ticket (Grambling vs. Alabama State)

5. Emory University
An admission representative for Emory University will conduct ta small group session for interested students on Monday October 29th at 1:30pm in the counseling office.
This is a great opportunity to earn the necessary steps and criteria for admission

6. Tuskegee University
There will be a college tour to Tuskegee University on September 29, 2018
Cost is $35

7. University of Georgia
An admission representative for UGA will conduct a small group session for interested students on October 1st at 10am in the counseling office
This is a great opportunity to learn the necessary steps and criteria for admission

8. Technology Student Association (TSA)
Can you code?
Want to build a robot?
How about designing a new app or video game?
Well, join Dutchtown High School’s TSA
We meet each Tuesday and Thursday in room 411 from 3:30 to 4:30

9. National Art Honor Society
All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade student artists are invited to apply for membership in the Dutchtown High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS)
The NAHS is sponsored by the National Art Education Association
Goal is to recognize students who have shown and outstanding ability in art
Students must have a 3.0 GPA in art classes and overall, remain active, need 3 former teacher recommendations, and pay $5.00 yearly fee
If you are interested, is important that all applications be returned to Dr. Clinton by Friday, September 14, 2018

10. Counseling Department Scholarship Workshop
The first DHS counseling department scholarship workshop of the 18th – 19th school year has been scheduled for Thursday, September 13th during 2nd block
Scholarship tips and application procedures are presented during the workshop session.

11. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVB)
DHS counseling department will administer the ASVB exam on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 9am-12pm
Students interested in military careers or to gain insight into career possibilities are encouraged to sign up
10th-12th grade students are able to sign up in the counseling office
Only 65 slots are available

13. National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is happy to invite new members to a meeting on Tuesday, September 22th from 3:30-4:30pm in Mr. Hendricks’ room, 208

14. The Helen Ruffing Reading Bowl
The reading bowl will meet on Mondays at 3:30pm in the library

15. National Beta Club
Beta Club will meet on Thursday, September 13th at 3:30pm in the Counseling Office

17. Athlete of the Week The athlete of the week is Jamal Dunwoody
Jamal has shown great progress
He has grown to setting a personal record wich was done at the last meet held at Starr’s Mill HS
Known as the NIKE Panther Invitational

18. Homecoming Dance Tickets
Homecoming Dance tickets are on sale during lunch for $7
Seniors who have the activity packets, your tickets are included
Don’t wait too late, tickets are $10 at the door

19. Dutchtown Cluster Nights
DHS will host the first Cluster Nights
Date: September 14th, 28th and October 28th (Homecoming) and senior night, October 26th
Cost: $25 cover cost of t-shirt and 3 home football games
Please return order forms by September 6th and include t-shirt size

20. International Skills Diploma Seal
There will be a meeting held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 3:30 in Ms Nagel’s room, 212
Time of meeting: 3:30-4:15

21. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Attention FBLA Members, we need volunteers to help plan the Homecoming Tailgate Activities
We will meet on Thursday, September 13 at 3:30p, in room 407

22. Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM)
Students who are interested in STEM and science, we have a wonderful opportunity for you in Science National Honor Society
There will be an interest meeting held in room 126 at 3:30 on Friday, September 14th

23. Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT)
The PSAT will be held on October 10th
All Sophomores are registered to take this exam which is paid by the state
Freshmen and Juniors interested in taking the exam can do so by registering with Dr. Powell and paying a fee of $16
Registration will end on September 28th
The PSAT is an excellent means of preparing Juniors for the SAT exam and provides the opportunity to obtain National Merit and other scholarships
