6 Course Sequence Robotics Side Programming Side
Robotics Programming (RobotC) One Semester Start using Virtual Worlds Robotics Projects One Semester, can be repeated. Design, build, program robots to compete. VEX Robotics Competition Programming Side Intro To Programming: Several Languages including Game Maker, Pascal, Java Computer Science I (Pascal) One Semester Computer Science II (Pascal) AP Computer Languages (Java) 2 Semesters (Java) Advanced Computer Projects Develop original software

7 Topics of Study 1) Fundamentals
Programmer and Machine, planning and behaviors, RobotC rules. 2) Setup Downloading and modifying programs 3) Basic Movement Renaming motors, timing, power levels, manual straightening, shaft encoders, automatic straightening, using integrated encoders. 4) Sensing Using limit switches, Ultrasonic Range Finders, light sensors, Gyro Sensors. 5) Remote Control Joystick mapping, using timers and buttons. 6) Engineering Safety, hardware, engineering process, using the competition template 7) Projects Projects will be included in the above sections.

Students are expected to be safe, responsible and respectful. Students not following these expectations may expect: verbal warnings, removal from class pending conference, parent contact, or referral to administration.

12 Computer Lab Rules No gum in class
No food or drink in the lab (except water with a lid at approved locations) No headphones or music except on days selected by teacher Absolutely no off-task Internet usage ( , games, chat, etc – anything other than class related) Absolutely no off-task Computer usage (ask teacher permission to use equipment for anything other than class assignments) Do NOT download any software (games, utilities, music, etc.) Do NOT use any “chat” software No CELL PHONE use in class without permission of Mr. Smith.

13 Materials Needed Each student will need a Composition Book or a tabbed off section in your three-ring binder for notes and handouts. Bring a pen or pencil with you everyday
