1 Welcome to Language Arts!
Mrs. Talbot in 7th and 8th grades! Welcome to Language Arts!

2 Agreements (Rules) If we all agree to look and act like students, we will support one another’s learning. 

3 1. Be on time and ready for class
this means students are: In their assigned the bell Have assignments, pencil, binder in class Are starting the entry task or warm-up Have a novel or something to read at all times Hats, coats, purses, electronics, food, drinks candy left in locker; gum not visible.

4 2. Be respectful this means students:
Raise their hands before talking or asking Qs Listen to the speaker (teacher or student) Give positive comments or put-ups (no insults, name calling, cussing, meanness) Work to support your group (positive, kind) Ask permission to leave the room for any reason 2. Be respectful

5 3. Give effort to your work
this means students: Ask Qs when confused or unsure Ask Qs to deepen understanding Turn in complete work when due! Redo work if needed (policy) Be aware of your grades and any missing assignments (skyward info!) Check Mrs. Talbot’s website every day for assignments/homework and write your homework in your planner 3. Give effort to your work

6 4. Be polite in classroom and hall
this means students: Are helpful to others (lockers!) Don’t use profanity Keep hands and feet to selves Move to the side of the hall or open areas for quick conversations Keep stairway traffic moving, don’t rush (push), walk on right side  4. Be polite in classroom and hall

7 What if I break the rules?
You will be given a look or verbal warning. This is a chance to stop and make a better choice for your behavior. If the behavior continues you may: Be moved to a new seat Be assigned a time out (hall, another teacher’s room, ISS with Ms. Paitson) Be assigned after school detention and parents will be contacted Receive an office referral and parents will be contacted What if I break the rules?

8 Classroom Routines Come in calmly, leave the drama in the hall
You WILL have assigned seats, seating will change when Mrs. Talbot feels like a change  Agenda/homework/what we’ll learn today Materials Trash Computer use Pencil sharpener Bathroom passes/leaving the room Turn-in work Ms. Talbot’s desk Recycling Classroom Routines
