1. Year 9 Freehand drawing and Mixed Media
Students will explore various media: pencil, pastel, inks, paint and collage and graffito pen work. Emphasis is on developing individual style of drawing and to build skills levels. Students will produce a folio of various drawings and some of these may be framed for exhibition. Theory and interrelationships to artists will be a focus as well as appreciation of how the arts elements of design can be utilised. The outcome of this special unit allows the student to build on their drawing skills and to broaden their perspectives of drawing styles. Students should aim to produce a folio of drawings that show development of their own ideas.

Students will explore from a range of topics on themes or subject matter, using a variety od drawing media and materials.
Gestural drawing; drawing from direct life observations and exploratory drawing experiences are covered in the course.

Students will be encouraged to create artwork for local exhibitions and competitions.
