Feel free to take pictures of it as needed, but it will serve as your verification of progress made towards these standards. It will be kept in the Seminar Corner of the room inside a hanging file assigned to each of you. Within this hanging file you will keep your file folder, pertinent artifacts, and Composition Book

Composition Book Place the printed label on the top right corner of the outside front cover. Glue the “AP Seminar Notebook Overview” to the inside cover of your notebook. On the first page of the notebook label the top of the page “Table of Contents”. This page will serve as the place where you document what is located on each page of the notebook. It will help to easily locate items when searching for your standards artifacts. Keep it updated always!! 

Google Drive Standard 5 reads:  Use technology effectively to access and manage information.  We will begin satisfying this standard by utilizing Google Drive as an organizational tool.   Log into Google if you are not already.   In the top right corner, click this icon: When the window opens, click the Drive symbol: In the top left, click the "New" button.  Create a folder.  Label it "Lastname, Firstname". Right click on the Folder.  "Share" with   Open the folder.  Create a sub-folder.  Name it "Skills Development"

Elevator Speeches You will be given a time limit of 1 minute. Remember: Your goal is to “sell” yourself to your peers, so that they have an understanding of how you will work within a group. Treat this as an interview! You may volunteer to present. If not then I am randomly drawing names to determine the order. During the speeches you are to remain attentive and write down the name of each speaker, along with at least one fact you learned about that person. Students presenting should allow a classmate to use their personal device to record their speech. NO OTHER PHONES SHOULD BE OUT! You should always be prepared to speak!!! This is never a good position to place yourself!

What are some things we should take away from our first presentation?

Key Word Observations You will be given 10 minutes to make an observation of the classroom, from your seat, given a specific key word. These should be your own thoughts, so do not discuss your ideas with your neighbors. Strive to make deductive observations, as opposed to more superficial inductive observations. i.e. “The sky is blue.” → “There is a blue hue of sky, which is possibly formed by the sun shining through the atmosphere during the daylight hours, as opposed to the morning or evening hours when the sun is rising or falling, creating more red and orange hues.”

Homework 1. Take a picture of the cafeteria. Write a detailed explanation of the picture that you have taken. *Make sure you have submitted this in Google Classroom by 7 am the morning of our next meeting date. 2. View your elevator speech video. Write a reflection of your performance in front of the class. Be sure to include any areas where you have potential for growth, details of your thoughts on the overall delivery, and your current overview in regards to the other speeches you observed. Have this typed. It will be added to your notebook and labeled Journal #2.
