white, I: A comma is used to set off introductory elements.
ridiculous: Ridiculous was misspelled.
myself. Today, it: A period is added as these are two distinct sentences. A comma is added after the word today as it is an introductory element.
meatball: Meatball was misspelled
wearing: This is an error in verb tense. The correct usage is wearing (present tense).
every day: Everyday is an adjective that means commonplace or normal. Every day means each day.
Murphy’s Law which states that: Murphy’s Law is a proper noun and should be capitalized. The sentence also requires another verb added for clarity (states).

Before we get into our new unit, let’s reflect on the last semester. Write a letter to me about your experience in school last semester. Be sure your letter is at least 10 sentences long and addresses the following:
How did last semester go for you? How were your grades?
What are some ways that you’d like to change this semester?
What kinds of grades do you hope to earn?
What habits would you like to develop or break?
Do you have any athletic or sports goals?
What are your academic goals? Do you want to improve your grades? Be more organized? Be more responsible? Decrease your tardies or improve attendance?
What do you want to do differently this semester from last semester?

11. Directions: Part 1
1. As a class, we will read “Why is Community Service Important?” twice.
2. With a partner, write a one- sentence main idea of the article on your handout. Afterwards, identify and circle, highlight, or underline three sentences in the article that support the main idea you’ve identified.
We’ll discuss in seven minutes.

12. For Barack Obama, public service has not been just the slogan of a campaign; it has been the cause of his life. Obama began his career by moving to the South Side of Chicago to direct the Developing Communities Project. Together with a coalition of ministers, Obama set out to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued by crime and high unemployment.
After graduating from law school, Obama passed up lucrative law firm jobs to head Project Vote, which helped register 150,000 new African American voters in Chicago, the highest number ever registered in a single local effort. Michelle Obama was founding executive director of Public Allies Chicago, a leadership development program that identifies and prepares talented young adults for careers serving the public good. Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe public service is transformative, helping both the individuals that serve and the communities that benefit. …
Barack Obama calls his years working as a community organizer in Chicago’s South Side the best education he ever had. He believes that all students should serve their communities. Studies show that students who participate in service-learning programs do better in school, are more likely to graduate high school and go to college, and are more likely to become active, engaged citizens. Schools that require service as part of the educational experience create improved learning environments and serve as resources for their communities.
