ASHRAE is an acronym for American Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineers
ASHRAE is an international voluntary organization for people involved in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) Industry
ASHRAE has extended its role beyond HVAC & R. For example ASHRAE standard 90.1 stipulates minimum performance requirements for Building envelope, lighting, motors etc..

EA Minimum and Optimum Energy Performance
SS Light Pollution Reduction
ASHRAE 90.1 is the Energy Standard for buildings except low rise residential buildings. It is mainly referred in LEED EA Credits Minimum and Optimum Energy Performance. Projects should comply with mandatory requirements of ASHRAE 90.1 and should demonstrate atleast 5% reduction is energy cost compared to base line energy cost. Energy Simulation has to be performed as per Appendix G of ASHRAE standard.
ASHRAE 90.1 is also addressed Sustainable Sites credit Light Pollution Reduction. The requirement is exterior Lighting Power density should not exceed ASHRAE 90.1 limits

ASHRAE gives the requirements for ventilation for acceptable Indoor Air Quality. It is the reference standard for the IEQ prerequisite Minimum Indoor Air Quality and credit Enhanced Indoor Air Quality peformance

ASHRAE 52.2 is the standard for filtration efficiency of filters used in HVAC equipment, it defines the testing procedure for MERV Rating ie Minimum Efficiency Reporting value. MERV rating is referred in IEQ Credits Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Performance and Construction Indoor Air Quality Management
