6 Themes for the year Many of our subject areas are covered through cross-curricular themes. You will receive a summary of the content each time the theme changes, usually each half term. This year they are: What do I see when I look in the mirror? Whos afraid of the dark? Magical Mystery tour X marks the spot Mayday!

7 Levels of achievement Most recent levels are the ones in your childs last report. We track and update them each half term and will let you know how your child is progressing at Parents Evenings and in termly reports. Between reports and parents evenings please feel free to make an appointment to discuss your childs progress. Our target is for an AVERAGE Year 1 child to achieve Level 1a in Numeracy, Reading and Writing by the END of the year. Some children will not meet this level and others will exceed it.

8 The Phonics Screening Check Takes place in June Children have forty words to read to me, some real and some fake To meet the expected standard the child has to read 30 of the words correctly Further meetings will be arranged soon after October half term to explain the check in more detail and to provide resources for supporting your child in phonics
