Shakespeare's life lasted for fifty-two years
Shakespeare's life lasted for fifty-two years. It is known that he was born in April 1564 and that he died on 23rd April We know that he was baptised on 26th April 1564 and scholars now believe that he was born on April 23rd . He therefore died on his fifty-second birthday, coinciding with St George's Day. How fitting that the great English writer is so closely identified with the patron saint of England!

Kiss Me Kate (1953) Fred and Lilly are a divorced pair of actors who are brought together by Cole Porter who has written a musical version of The Taming of the Shrew. Of course, the couple seem to act a great deal like the characters they play. A fight on the opening night threatens the production, as well as two thugs who have the mistaken idea that Fred owes their boss money and insist on staying next to him all night.
3
Composer Cole Porter and director Fred Graham, who is also to star as Petruchio, talk legendary actress/singer Lilli Vanessi to play the female lead, Katherine, in Porter's new stage production "Kiss Me, Kate", a musical translation of the William Shakespeare comedy "The Taming of the Shrew". Talking Lilli into doing so is quite a feat seeing that Fred is her ex-husband with whom she parted on not so good terms a year earlier, and that Fred has cast Lois Lane, his new girlfriend, in the role of Katherine's sister, Bianca.
4
Lois, however, is only using Fred as she is secretly seeing Bill Calhoun, cast as Lucentio, one of Bianca's suitors. The relationship between Fred and Lilli changes during rehearsals, on opening night before the curtain goes up and even on stage on opening night that mimics the story of the play. In turn, what happens on stage has to change on the emotional whims of the two leads. Thrown into the mix are Tex Callaway, Lilli's on-again/off again cattle baron fiancé, and two gangsters who've come to the theater to collect on a gambling debt and won't leave the stage in order to protect their boss' new investment.

Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) Garden gnomes Gnomeo (voice of McAvoy) and Juliet (voice of Blunt) have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. But with plastic pink flamingos and lawnmower races in the mix, can this young couple find lasting happiness?

Gnomeo & Juliet is a 2011 animated family film based on William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The film is directed by Kelly Asbury, and the two main characters are voiced by James McAvoy and Emily Blunt. The film was released on February 11, 2011.

William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet is a 1996 American film adaptation of William Shakespeare's romantic tragedy of the same name. It was directed by Australian Baz Luhrmann and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the eponymous roles. The film is an abridged modernization of Shakespeare's play. While it retains the original Shakespearean dialogue, the Montagues and the Capulets are represented as warring business empires and swords are replaced by guns.
10
In modern times, in the city of Verona Beach, the Capulets and the Montagues are rivals. The animosity of the older generation - Fulgencio (Paul Sorvino) and Gloria Capulet (Diane Venora) and Ted (Brian Dennehy) and Caroline Montague (Christina Pickles) - is felt by their younger relatives. While stopping for gas, the Montague boys led by Benvolio (Dash Mihok), Romeo's cousin, come face to face with the Capulet boys led by Tybalt (John Leguizamo), Juliet's cousin.
11
A gun fight ensues between Benvolio and Tybalt, setting fire to the petrol station and creating chaos in the city. The Chief of Police, Captain Prince (Vondie Curtis-Hall), reprimands the boys, as well as Fulgencio and Ted. He warns them that if such behavior continues, their lives "shall pay the forfeit of peace". Caroline expresses her worry over Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio), who has been depressed. Benvolio talks to his cousin and learns that Romeo is in love, but the object of his affection, Rosaline, does not love him. Dave Paris (Paul Rudd), son of the Governor and nominated "Bachelor of the Year", meets with Fulgencio.
12
Paris wants to marry Fulgencio's daughter Juliet (Claire Danes), but Fulgencio thinks she is too young. Nevertheless, he invites Paris to a party he is hosting that night. Gloria tries convincing Juliet to accept Paris' proposal, but she is not persuaded. At Sycamore Grove, the Montague boys and Romeo meet their friend Mercutio (Harold Perrineau), who has gotten them tickets to the Capulet party. Mercutio tries convincing Romeo to attend the party, which Rosaline will also be attending. Romeo takes a pill Mercutio gives him, and they proceed to the Capulet mansion.
13
The effects of the drug and the party overwhelm Romeo, who goes to the restroom. While admiring the fish tank, he spots Juliet on the other side. Before they can speak, Juliet's nurse (Miriam Margolyes) whisks her off to dance with Paris. Romeo is spotted by Tybalt, who vows to kill him for invading his family's home, but Fulgencio stops him, afraid he will make a scene. Romeo and Juliet sneak into an elevator and kiss, but are spotted by the nurse when the doors open.
14
Juliet is dragged away by her nurse, who reveals Romeos identity as a Montague at the same time Romeo realises Juliet is a Capulet. Romeo is pulled from the party by Mercutio while Juliet watches from a balcony. Romeo sneaks back to the mansion, hiding under Juliets balcony. Juliet emerges into the yard, not knowing he is there, and proclaims her love for him before Romeo sneaks up behind her. Juliet is horrified that he risked death to return, but Romeo tells her he does not care whether he is caught. Knowing her nurse is looking for her, Juliet tells him that if he sends word by the following day, she will be his.
15
Romeo visits Father Lawrence (Pete Postlethwaite), telling him he wants to marry Juliet. The priest agrees to marry the pair. Romeo passes the word onto Juliets nurse, and the lovers are married that afternoon, with the nurse and Romeo's friend Balthasar (Jesse Bradford) as witnesses. Tybalt encounters Mercutio and the Montagues. As the two are about to draw their weapons, Romeo arrives. He attempts to make peace, but Tybalt assaults him. Mercutio is about to kill Tybalt when Romeo stops him. Tybalt stabs Mercutio with a shard of glass, killing him. Romeo kills the fleeing Tybalt. Prince banishes Romeo from the city on pain of death.
16
Romeo, hiding with Father Lawrence, claims he would rather die than be banished. At the Capulet mansion Juliet prays, horrified by what has happened. When Romeo climbs over her balcony, she kisses him and they make love. Fulgencio decides Juliet will marry Paris. The next morning, Romeo prepares to leave as Juliet begs him to stay. Juliet's nurse tells them Gloria is on her way to Juliet's room. Romeo climbs out the window, promising Juliet he will see her again. Juliet learns she has been promised to Paris. When she refuses to marry Paris, her father tells her that if she does not marry Paris she will be disowned and thrown onto the streets.
17
Her mother refuses to delay the wedding and her nurse tells her it would be in her best interests to marry Paris. Juliet sees Friar Lawrence, imploring him to help her and threatening to commit suicide. The priest proposes she fake death instead, so she will be put in the Capulet vault to awaken 24 hours later. Romeo will be told of the plot, sneak into the vault, and once reunited the two can travel to Mantua. He gives her the poison necessary to make her seem dead. After saying goodnight to her mother, Juliet takes the poison and collapses.
18
She is found in the morning, declared dead, and placed in the Capulet vault. Balthasar learns Juliet is dead and tells Romeo, who was not home when the messenger arrived to tell him of the plan. Romeo returns to Verona, where he buys poison. Father Lawrence learns that Romeo has no idea Juliet is alive. Romeo enters the church where Juliet lies. Juliet awakens as Romeo drinks the potion. The two kiss before Romeo dies. Juliet picks up Romeo's handgun and shoots herself in the head. The two lovers are discovered in each other's arms.

description: Much Ado About Nothing is a 1993 film based on William Shakespeare's play. It was adapted for the screen and directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also played the role of Benedick. Much Ado About Nothing was released on May 7, 1993, reaching 200 U.S. screens at its widest release. It earned $22 million at the U.S. box office and $36 million total worldwide, which, despite failing to reach the mark set by Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet, made it one of the most financially successful Shakespeare films ever released. It was also entered into the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.

Don Pedro (Denzel Washington), Prince of Aragon and his noblemen are visiting their good friend Leonato in Messina after having quashed the uprising led by Don John (Keanu Reeves), the prince's bastard half-brother. Among the victors are the misogynistic and witty Benedick, erstwhile flame of Leonato's equally sharp-tongued and somewhat fierce niece Beatrice (Emma Thompson), who is something of a misandrist), and Benedick's "sworn brother" Claudio , a young count. Claudio has been thinking fondly of Leonato's gentle and lovely daughter Hero since before he went to war, and returns to find her as attractive as ever.
22
Don Pedro, learning of his young friend's feelings, arranges the match at a party. Despite Don John's best efforts to foil it, the Prince's plan works out perfectly in the end. Needing something to pass the time until the wedding day, Don Pedro decides to arrange a similar fate for Beatrice and Benedick. Of course, both parties being such professed tyrant[s] to the opposite sex, this match will take a little more ingenuity.
23
Leonato, Claudio and the Prince stage a loud conversation containing a fictitious account of how much Beatrice is in love with Benedick; all the while, they know Benedick to be hiding well within earshot. Hero and her gentlewoman Ursula play the same trick upon Beatrice. Each of them believes the story they hear about the other. In the midst of all of this good-natured scheming, Don John and his men have been casting about for ways to stop the intended marriage between the man who hath all the glory of [Don John's] overthrow and the woman for whom one may suspect he has cherished some tender feeling. The night before the wedding, his servant Borachio arranges to meet with Hero's gentlewoman Margaret at Hero's chamber window.
24
John shows his half-brother and Claudio the rendezvous and makes them believe that they are seeing Hero in the act of infidelity. Against the revelry of the evening, the constable Dogberry appoints a watch to keep the peace. The three hapless watchmen happen to hear Borachio bragging to his colleague Conrade about how he and Don John had finally succeeded in wrecking the wedding plans. They make the arrest and send Dogberry in the morning to fetch Leonato for the examination, but the old gentleman is in too much of a hurry to try to decipher what the constable would say to him.
25
Amidst the confusion, the villain has managed to escape to parts unknown before he can get his comeuppance. At the wedding, Claudio publicly disgraces his would-be bride and storms away along with all of the guests except for Ursula, the Friar, Leonato, Beatrice, her father Antonio, and Benedick. They all agree to the Friar's plan to publish the tale that Hero, upon the grief of Claudio's accusations, suddenly died. Beatrice and Benedick linger a moment, and wind up confessing their love to one another.
26
In the wake of this declaration, Beatrice asks Benedick to do the one thing that will satisfy her outrage with what has just happened; she asks him to kill Claudio. He agrees, but it is with a heavy heart. Just after the challenge is issued, the story of Don John's deception comes to light, and the Prince and Claudio are sorely grieved for their grave mistake. Leonato forgives Claudio on the condition that he marry Hero's cousin on the next morning.
27
When the bride is brought forth, she is revealed to be none other than Hero herself! They then profess their true and undying love for each other, as do Beatrice and Benedick when faced with written evidence (acquired and produced by Hero and Claudio) found in the pockets of each, Benedick's in the form of an endearingly poorly-written song. All are reconciled and Don John is discovered and promised punishment. The movie ends with the whole of Leonato's household dancing in the courtyard, with the newlyweds at the center of them.

Romeo Is Bleeding (1993) description: Romeo Is Bleeding is a darkly comic 1993 police story starring Gary Oldman and Lena Olin, directed by Peter Medak. The film's title was taken from a song by Tom Waits. Despite featuring established stars (Oldman had appeared in the starring role of Francis Ford Coppola-directed blockbuster Dracula only a year prior), the film failed to make a significant impact at the box office, and it received a generally unenthusiastic reaction from critics. In recent years, the film has gained a cult following despite its initially lackluster reception

Jack Grimaldi, a corrupt cop who does favors for the Mafia in exchange for large fees, hhas a loving wife, Natalie, and an adoring mistress, Sheri. He thinks he has it all, until both the cops and mob are outwitted by a sociopathic Russian mob assassin named Mona Demarkov. The head of the Italian mob, Don Falcone, orders Jack to deal with Demarkov or face dire consequences. Jack is unable to kill her; she even seduces and makes a fool of him. Falcone, disappointed in Jack's ineptitude, orders one of Jack's toes cut off.
33
Seriously injured due to the amputation and realizing that he has endangered his wife and mistress, Jack instructs his wife to leave the city immediately, giving her money and instructions where to meet him out West when the time is right. Jack also ends his affair with his mistress and puts her on a train out of the city. Jack tries to hunt Demarkov but soon realizes that he is putty in her hands. He is attracted to her sexually and no match for her professionally. Mona offers to pay Jack to help her eliminate Falcone and fake her own death. Although he obtains phony papers for her, she refuses to pay and attempts to strangle him.
34
He shoots and seriously wounds her, then tries to drive away with her handcuffed in the back seat. Mona escapes by hooking her legs around his neck, causing him to crash the car. She slithers out through the shattered windshield without ever freeing her hands. Mona lures Jack to an abandoned warehouse. He again attempts to kill her but is tricked into shooting Sheri instead. Mona fixes the corpse so as to suggest that it was she, and not Sheri, who died. (Her scheme involves severing her own arm and substituting it for Sheri's.)
35
Mona then handcuffs Jack to the bed and has her way with him
Mona then handcuffs Jack to the bed and has her way with him. Asking Jack, "with or without", he replies "without" and she mounts him after unbuckling her new prosthetic arm, her last concession to conventional appearances. Demarkov then forces Jack to kill Don Falcone, burying him alive, even after having her arm replaced with a prosthetic. She proceeds to turn in Jack to the police, his former associates, copping a plea deal that will indict Jack for the multiple murders that she tricked him into committing.
36
The police arrange a confrontation between Jack and Demarkov at the courthouse, as he is heading in and she is heading out. She threatens to kill his wife. Thinking he has nothing to lose, and desperate to save the only thing good in his life, Jack grabs a gun from the ankle holster of a fellow officer and shoots her down. Jack turns the gun on himself, only to discover that the revolver is empty. Instead of being sent to prison for the murder, he is given a commendation.

Shakespeare in Love is a 1998 romantic comedy film directed by John Madden and written by Marc Norman and playwright Tom Stoppard. The film purports to portray playwright William Shakespeare's involvement in a love affair at the time that he was writing the play Romeo and Juliet; it is largely fictional, although several of the characters are based on real people. In addition, many of the characters, lines, and plot devices are references to Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare in Love won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (for Gwyneth Paltrow), and Best Supporting Actress (for Judi Dench). It was the first comedy film to win the Best Picture award since Annie Hall (1977).
39
plot: The film centres around the forbidden love of William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) and Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow), the daughter of a wealthy merchant. As the film begins, theatre manager Philip Henslowe (Geoffrey Rush) finds himself in debt to loan shark Hugh Fennyman (Tom Wilkinson). Henslowe offers Fennyman a partnership in the upcoming production of Shakespeare's newest comedy Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter promising that it will be a hit. However, after learning that his love was cheating on him with his patron, Shakespeare burns the original play and tries to start anew.
40
This play will later be renamed Romeo and Juliet and be reworked into a tragedy (but with some comical undertones with a few characters, like the Nurse). Suffering from writer's block, Will Shakespeare is unable to complete the play, but begins auditions for Romeo. A young man named Thomas Kent is cast in the role after impressing Shakespeare with his performance and his love of Shakespeare's previous work. Unknown to Shakespeare and the rest of the theatre company, Kent is young Viola de Lesseps, who desires to act, but, as women are barred from the stage, she must disguise herself as a young man to fulfill her dream. After Shakespeare discovers his star's true identity, he and Viola begin a passionate secret affair.
41
There are strong parallels between the pair's romance and the one in Romeo and Juliet, including the ballroom scene from Act 2 and the balcony scene immediately following it. The element of forbidden love forms the basis of Shakespeare's inspiration, and many of their conversations later show up as some of the most famous quotes in the play. Inspired by Viola, Shakespeare begins writing feverishly. His work in progress also benefits from the off-hand advice of playwright and friendly rival Christopher 'Kit' Marlowe (Rupert Everett), whose own murder is cleverly worked into the plot later on. Yet Shakespeare and de Lesseps know that their romance is doomed.
42
Shakespeare is married, albeit long separated from his wife, while Viola's parents have arranged her betrothal to Lord Wessex (Colin Firth), an aristocrat who has agreed to marry the social-climbing merchant's daughter in view of his own mounting debts and lack of cash. When Viola is summoned to the court of Queen Elizabeth I (Judi Dench), Shakespeare dons a woman's disguise to accompany her as her country cousin. At court, Shakespeare goads Wessex into betting fifty pounds that a play cannot capture the nature of true love. If Romeo and Juliet is a success, Shakespeare as playwright will win the money.
43
The Queen, who enjoys Shakespeare's plays, agrees to witness the wager
The Queen, who enjoys Shakespeare's plays, agrees to witness the wager. The meeting's true purpose is revealed when Wessex announces his intent to marry Viola. Edmund Tilney (Simon Callow), the Master of the Revels, the Queen's official in charge of the theatres, learns that there is a woman in the theatre company at the Rose playhouse. He orders the theatre closed for violating morality and the law. Left without a stage or lead actor, it seems that Romeo and Juliet must close before it even opens, until Richard Burbage (Martin Clunes), the owner of a competing theatre, the Curtain, offers his stage to Shakespeare.
44
Shakespeare assumes the lead role of Romeo, with a boy actor playing Juliet. Viola learns the play will be performed on her wedding day. After the ceremony, Viola's loyal nurse (Imelda Staunton) helps her slip away to the theatre. In a final twist, shortly before the play begins, the boy playing Juliet starts experiencing the voice change of puberty. Viola takes the stage to replace him and plays Juliet to Shakespeare's Romeo. Their passionate portrayal of two lovers inspires the entire audience. Tilney arrives at the theatre with Wessex, who has deduced his new bride's whereabouts.
45
Tilney invokes the Queen's name to arrest all there for indecency
Tilney invokes the Queen's name to arrest all there for indecency. Suddenly, Elizabeth I's voice rings out from the back of the theatre: "Mr. Tilney! Have a care with my name; you will wear it out." The Queen had decided to attend the play in disguise, and says that she will handle this matter herself. Although she recognizes Viola in her disguise as Thomas Kent, the Queen does not unmask Viola, instead declaring that the role of Juliet is being performed by the young man Thomas Kent.
46
However, even a Queen is powerless to break a lawful marriage
However, even a Queen is powerless to break a lawful marriage. Queen Elizabeth orders "Thomas Kent" to fetch Viola so that she may sail with Wessex to a colonial settlement in Virginia. The queen also states that Romeo and Juliet has accurately portrayed true love and so Wessex is forced to pay Shakespeare the fifty pounds, the exact amount Shakespeare requires to buy a share in the Chamberlain's Men.
47
The Queen then directs "Kent" to tell Shakespeare to write something "a little more cheerful next time, for Twelfth Night". Viola and Shakespeare part, resigned to their fates. Her ship sinks; only Viola survives, and lands on a beach. The film closes with her on the beach, with a voice over by Shakespeare discussing his plans to write Twelfth Night, Or What You Will and musing of its main character, "For she will be my heroine for all time, and her name will be Viola", a strong young woman castaway who disguises herself as a young man.
