Attend college fairs, continue the college search process online, visit colleges
Update Resume in Naviance/Family Connection
Request letters of recommendation
Work on college essay
Register for SAT/ACT (if necessary)
Complete NCAA eligibility (if applicable)
Discuss Early Action / Early Decision options
Prepare a well researched list of schools to begin the application process…

Have SAT/ACT Scores Sent To Colleges

5. Applying Via The Common App
Register for the Common Application (
To Begin, Everyone MUST:
complete the EDUCATION section
Add at least one college to the MY COLLEGES section
Sign the FERPA waiver

6. FERPA explained
The typical expectation for letters of recommendation in college admissions is that they are kept confidential. Admissions officers give most weight to letters that provide an honest and qualified assessment of the applicant. If you don't waive your FERPA right, you could accidentally signal to admissions officers that you don't trust your recommender or that the recommendation is less candid or genuine.

7. *College Rep Visits and On-Site Admissions at Centereach High School*
Please refer to your child’s Naviance/Family Connection account to view upcoming visits and on-site admissions opportunities from various colleges
Click on “Colleges” and “Upcoming College Visits” to view the dates and times
All sign-ups for these opportunities will be in the West Suite; where the appointments & visits will also take place.

8. * SAT / ACT * Be aware of upcoming deadlines & new procedures
Register early! (No walk-ins accepted anymore!)
Photo I.D. is required upon registering
Students must send SAT/ACT scores to each college directly through the testing website:

FAFSA form should be filled out online after October 1, 2017

National Scholarships are posted under the “Colleges” tab in Naviance/Family Connection
Local scholarship information given to seniors in February
