Points to Consider NYS Assessments: Some results may necessitate adding a support period, thus changing a student’s schedule. Grading & Ranking Policy: Courses are not weighted. The rigor of the course is indicated by course title (i.e., Honors/Advanced Placement). Although courses taken prior to high school will not be calculated into your cumulative high school GPA, all credit-bearing courses, final grades and Regents exams will appear on your high school transcript. (Colleges may use these grades when determining GPA for admission/scholarship purposes).

SHS AP / Honors Course Access Protocol
Southampton Public Schools believe that the entire student body should have access to all courses offered and have the opportunity to challenge themselves academically through a variety of rigorous, multi-leveled classes available. In the event that a student chooses to enroll in an Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) course without meeting the prerequisite classes and/or teacher recommendations listed in this catalog, admission can be sought through the SHS Course Access Protocol which begins with a formal request to the principal NO LATER THAN June 1st.
11
SHS AP / Honors Course Access Protocol (con’t)
Students will be obligated to attended weekly 10th period sessions at the discretion of the classroom teacher. Progress meetings will take place with parents, student, and staff to determine if placement is the best “fit” for student.

Course Selection A Message from Dr. Zahn:
The scheduling process is an opportunity for you to review past accomplishments and establish future goals. Reflect upon your current progress and consider carefully how you will take maximum advantage of the courses we offer. I ask that you please plan carefully, as your choices will drive the development of our master schedule. When you choose classes, you are making a commitment that we expect you will honor. Please be advised that your course selections will be final. No course changes will be accepted after the scheduling process is complete. I encourage you to ask many questions throughout this process.
