research its history, economic, and current geo-political status in the world order Emphasis to be on Economic and standard of living indices Historical setting and present system of government Most pressing issues, both domestic and foreign. Proposed solutions for development Presentation via PowerPoint

CIA World Fact Book: Human Development Index: Corruption Perceptions Index Other appropiate sites Caution: Please use these websites first Only Google for extra information not found on these sites

4 Global Project Guidelines
14 slides minimum Each slide must contain bulleted items limited to only eight words. Heading or titles with font size of 36 or larger-- bulleted items font size at least 28 and preferably 32. All slides contain the same design template Don’t change font colors: white background best

5 Global Project Guidelines (cont)
All slides contain an appropriate graphic or photo. Unless the photo or graphic is used for a special effect, it should be on the slide as the script appears.

6 Slide Requirements An opening slide should contain the title, “Global Economic Project,” the name of the country, country flag, and the presenter’s name and photo. One slide should contain an inviting hook to the presentation with a You-tube video, movie clip, or sound clip. Be sure to test your hyperlinks on the classroom computer. (No more than 3 minutes allowed)

7 Slide Requirements One slide should have a clear map of the country.
Show this map in comparison to the U.S. or one of its states, whichever is appropriate. Be sure the maps are proportional. One slide should present the history of the country. Include its most important events and any significant events that have occurred in the 20th and 21st century. Keep thisbrief

8 Slide Requirements One slide should list the country’s type of government and information on its current leader. Be sure you can explain how their system works and know something about its primary leader. One slide should give its current GDP and GDP per capita. Include a comparison to its neighbors or a U.S. city, state, or group of states, whichever is appropriate, so a good understanding of its rank One slide should contain its employment figures Labor force, labor force by occupation, & unemployment rate One slide should list its major trading partners and its balance of trade in dollars. Put some photos on the slide of its major exports and imports.

9 Slide Requirements One slide should contain information from the Human Development Index. Highlight some of the figures in various categories and show its rank comparative to other countries rated in the same range. One slide should contain information from the Corruption Perceptions Index with your explanation of its rating.

10 Slide Requirements One slide should present its major national or international issues. Don’t rely on the CIA World Factbook analysis, as they usually refer to drug trade as its major issue. One slide should present contain your solutions for a decade plan to improve its position in the global economy and world order One slide should contain your country’s greetings, salutations, & common expressions. Be able to pronounce these correctly. Include a handout page with six slides per page. Give to Mr. Dickinson just prior to your presentation. One slide should be a Works Cited page in MLA format

Three days prior to your presentation date Give him a handout with all your slides on it Print the slides (six per page) Give him your project on a jump drive or send it Google docs – three days prior to your presentation day Reductions for lateness

12 Scoring-Project worth 100 points
Content – 0…20….40….50…55 (high) Content is relevant comprehensive, accurate, and has source documentation. Slide requirements met (minimum 14). Used CIA World Factbook, HDI, & CPI and understood and explained statistics effectively Organization & Structure 0…5…10 (high) Well organized, clear, and effectively structured Integrated presentation rather than disjointed Key points are noted & presented logically

13 Scoring-Project worth 100 points
Style/Presentation/Appearance 0…5…10…15 (high) Dress & grooming appropriate for setting (extra credit cultural dress) Student made eye contact with audience—did not read from screen Delivery time is well used, not rushed or too long Effective use of vocal variety, physical actions, & dynamics Correct positioning in classroom so all could see

Effective Use of Visual Aids 0….10…15 (high) Visual aids are clear & effective (one template-all slides same background) Bullets kept to 8 words or less Photos appeared first, unless for “effect” Used video clip and had correct links set prior to presentation Handout ………….5 (high) Outline complete with six slides per page
