2 Dawes Act Allotted 160 acres of land for each household
Single adults received 80 acres 40 acres were allotted for children Remaining land was sold to American Settlers Proceedings went into a trust fund for Native Americans

3 Dawes Act Cont'd This policy became a law in 1887
Failed to achieve its goals Many Native Americans had training or enthusiasm for farming They found their allotments too small so they sold them.
