grouping items into a unit Rehearsal conscious repetition of information prolongs STM duration indefinitely Note: Chunking allows arbitrarily large units of information to be stored in any one of STM’s 7 slots. The possible size of a chunk is limited only by the individual’s experience with the content/subject matter of the chunk.
