1 Standing For The Truth Text: Jude1: 3-13

2 Memory verse: “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3). Lesson: Saved boys and girls are to defend and stand for the gospel truth anywhere and at all times. Thought: I must be faithful to the truth.

3 Introduction The truth is the word of God as it is written in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The truth speaks about Jesus. Jesus confirmed this when He said in John 14:6 that “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

4 Introduction Knowing Jesus means you know the truth. Therefore, your knowledge of whom Jesus is, sets you free from sin, self and Satan. Do you know Jesus ?

Many friends of Jesus had stopped believing the whole truth because of the trouble and persecution of their time. False teachers were also making many to believe wrong teachings and to follow their own ways. Thus, he wrote to the Church (born again children) for the following reasons: (1) The common salvation. This was to make them know, believe and stand for the truth that Jesus is the only Saviour of the world (John 3:16,17;

Salvation is for everybody, hence he called it common salvation. (2). To encourage friends of Jesus to remain with Him and to seriously and carefully refuse every wrong teaching. (3) To stand for all the teachings of the gospel which they believed. (4) To warn them to run away and have no fellowship with those who have stopped following Jesus as the only Lord and Saviour.

(5) To remind friends of Jesus of what the Bible teaches: that those who stop following Jesus will suffer punishment like the children of Israel and the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. (6) To point out the characteristics of those who denied Jesus - “Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:20). They taught and preached because of money. Their end is hell fire. If you are like them, repent because you are being warned

8 2.How to stand for the truth I Timothy 4:12,13,15; 6:10-14; II Timothy 4:1-5; James 1:26-27.
The word of God is the whole gospel truth given to man by God, nothing should be added to or removed from it. If you do so, you will be in danger of hell fire. You must therefore do the following to seriously stand for the truth: (i) Be sure you remain a friend of Jesus till the end. (ii) Watch and pray so that deceivers do not make you to backslide. (iii) Separate from sinners and worldly people.

9 2.How to stand for the truth (Suite & End) I Timothy 4:12,13,15; 6:10-14; II Timothy 4:1-5; James 1:26-27 (iv) Live a holy life always. (v) Preach the gospel truth faithfully (II Timothy 4:2). (vi) Have no fellowship with false teachers (II John 10). (vii) Help friends of to believe and teach the same thing. Jesus (viii) Allow the word of Jesus to fill your heart all the time (Colossians 3:16). If you do all these things, you will never fail.

10 3. Blessings for standing for the truth II Timothy 4:7,8; Revelation 21:7; Daniel 12:3.
Friends of Jesus who stand for the truth will enjoy the following blessings: (i) God’s favour and promotion. (ii) Crown of righteousness. (iii) Inherit the things that God has kept for those who love Jesus. (iv) Answer to prayers. (v) God’s protection.

11 3. Blessings for standing for the truth (Suite & end) II Timothy 4:7,8; Revelation 21:7; Daniel 12:3. vi) Success and provision. (vii) Shine like stars at last and live in heaven forever with Jesus. Before a sinful child can have and enjoy these blessings, he must become a friend of Jesus, be holy and love God sincerely.
