1. DO NOT LOVE THE BAD THINGS OF THE WORLD
TEXT: 1 John 2:12-17; Isaiah 3:16-26; Titus 2:11-14
Memory verse:Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” 1 John 2:15

2. LESSON: Those who love the world will perish with the world.
THOUGHT: I will not love the world.

3. INTRODUCTION
When you love or do the things that worldly children do, you make God unhappy and also make yourself an enemy of God.
Satan is the controller of the bad things in the world. Therefore, a true friend of Jesus must run away from the ways of the world and all their attractions.
For better understanding, we will have three parts:
1. What are the bad things of the world ?
2. Dangers of doing bad things as the children of the world
3. How to avoid the bad things of the world?

4. 1- What are the bad Things of the World? 1John2: 12-17
The bad things of the world are called worldliness. Worldliness means doing things in the way and manner people who do not know God do them (Romans 12:2a). It also means behaving like sinful boys and girls who do things against the commandments of God.

5. 1-What are the bad things of the world? Isaiah 3:16-26
The bad things of the world are evil things that attract ungodly boys and girls to walk according to their disobedient minds. They see those things they do as, “having a nice time”.
For example, attending night parties, going to disco halls, smoking, watching bad films on TV and internet; dressing half naked, participating in worldly festivals, listening to worldly music and partaking in all forms of sinful habits.

Any friend of Jesus who involves himself in any of these things, will loses, his salvation and eventually end up in hell fire.

7. 2. DANGERS OF DOING BAD THINGS AS THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD Romans12:2a
Worldliness is as deadly as any other sin. It promotes fleshly desires, pollutes our minds and finally leads to sin.
Worldliness has destroyed many peoples’ lives. For example, Lot’s wife in Genesis 19:26, became a pillar of salt because of her love for the things of the world. “

Samson lost the power and the plan of God for his life. He was deceived by Delilah because of the of the flesh and his love for a worldly woman (Judges 16:20- 21).
Demas left the work of God that he was doing with Paul because of worldliness.
What then are the dangers of
worldliness and worldly pleasure?

9. 2- DANGERS OF DOING BAD THINGS AS THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD 1 John 2:12-17; Romans12: 2a
When the girls or boys, friends of Jesus behave as the children of the world, there are dangers:
Loss of spiritual power in the lives of friends Jesus
Loss of fellowship with God and others friends of Jesus
There will be no answers to prayer
Loss of God’s plan and privileges
Eternal separation from God and everlasting punishment in hell fire.

10. 3 - HOW TO AVOID THE BAD THINGS OF THE WORLD Titus 2: 11-14; 1Thessalonians 5:22
Friends of Jesus are to live a separated life from those who are worldly. You are to please God and not man, and live in a way that will help and not hinder others from loving Jesus.
If you are a sinful child and want to become a friend of Jesus, you must take the following steps before you can overcome worldliness:

Know yourself as a sinner.
Confess your sins to Jesus.
Repent of all your bad ways.
Ask Jesus to forgive you and wash
your heart clean with His blood.
Believe that Jesus has forgiven you.
Accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour.
Read, meditate on and obey the word of God.

Give six examples of worldly things that children engage in.
How can a friend of Jesus overcome worldliness?
