1 The Transforming Power of the Gospel
Colossians 1:1-11

2 Has anyone memorized the memory verse?

3 Introduction There is power in the gospel to transform a sinful child and make him become a saint. To transform means to change from a particular lifestyle to another. The word of God has power to change an individual who surrenders his life to God. There are many examples of people who became transformed by the power of the gospel in the Bible. The power is still the same today.

4 Point 1 What is the GOSPEL?
The gospel is the good news of salvation to mankind. It is the story of how Jesus died to reconcile sinners to God. After the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and separation, God still made a way to bring man back to Himself. God sent His Son Jesus, to bear the punishment for our sins through suffering on the cross at Calvary. John 3:16

5 Point 1 Continues He shed His blood to cleanse our sins so that we can receive forgiveness from God. The sinner who fails to repent and forsake his sins will go to hell fire when he dies. Jesus died to pay the price for our sins. What should you now do with the gospel ? Simple as ABC: Accept, Believe, and Confess the gospel. Act now and take the steps to believe the gospel

6 QUESTION Can you mention some people who received the gospel in the bible?

7 Point 2 The Transforming Power of the Gospel Colossians 1:1-11; John 4:7-18,28-30; 8:3-11; Acts 9:1-6, 10-15 The gospel has the power to transform a sinner to a saint, a bad person to a good person and a condemned individual to a pardoned individual. The Bible has various examples of people who are transformed by the gospel.

8 The Samaritan Woman John 4:7-18
The Samaritan woman met Jesus at the well. When she met Jesus, He told her how bad her life had been. He introduced Himself to her as the Messiah, Living water, Giver of everlasting life and Saviour. The woman believed and ran into the city to tell people that she had seen the Saviour. Her life changed immediately and she also brought others to Jesus.

9 The Woman Caught Doing a Bag Thing John 8:3-11
The woman’s way of life was bad. Sin made her dirty and she was brought to Jesus for punishment by the leaders in the temple (Scribes and Pharisees). Jesus told her, “go and sin no more”.

10 Paul the Apostle Acts 9:1-6, 10-15
Paul was formerly known as Saul of Tarsus, he persecuted friends of Jesus, arrested and took them to Jerusalem to be punished. Jesus met him on his way to Damascus to arrest his friends and stopped him. He surrendered his life to Jesus. He was transformed from a persecutor of the church to a preacher of the gospel of salvation to others. Only a transformed person can bring the message of transformation to lost souls.

11 Do you want your life to be changed ?
Realize that you are a sinner! Confess your sins to Jesus. Ask for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Invite Him to be your Saviour and Lord. Live a Holy life every day! When you are transformed, there will be visible fruit of the new life in you. Everyone will see you and heaven will rejoice.
