1 Checklist for Rules and Procedures
Thou shall and thou shall not. In other words, what you may or may not do.

2 Miscreants will be at the front of the room all year.
Seating Arrangement There will be a teacher- assigned seating chart, which will change at the beginning of each quarter. Miscreants will be at the front of the room all year.

3 Behavior for Entering the Class
Come in quietly Put homework in the appropriate box No running, pushing, etc. No charging bulls, runaway trains, or tag-you’re-it.

4 Behavior for Leaving the Class
Leave only when dismissed by the teacher Exit quietly and in an orderly manner

5 Format for Heading Papers
The following information must be on all papers and in the upper left-hand corner: Given name and surname Date Class period Papers missing this information will not be accepted.

6 Procedures for Turning in Completed Work
All work must be placed in the appropriate box before the bell rings. No late work accepted on daily assignments, including but not limited to, definitions, Daily Language Sentences and rewrites. BEING ABSENT THE DAY AN ASSIGNMENT IS DUE DOES NOT EXCUSE THE STUDENT FROM THE ASSIGNMENT AND/OR TURNING IT IN ON TIME. If a student is absent the day an assignment is due, he/she may sent the assignment with a parent or student. Assignments turned in early earn extra credit. Late work on major assignments will earn half credit if turned in the day after the due date. No credit will be earned after that time.

7 Procedures for Going to the Restroom and/or Requesting a Drink of Water
Please don’t ask. Students are not allowed out of class. Use break time between classes to take care of these functions.

8 Procedures for Going to the Clinic
Bring a signed note from home to the office for permission to leave. Nadalee will list excused students on the faculty bulletin. If not listed on faculty bulletin, the office will be contacted before permission to leave is granted.

9 Procedures for Sharpening Pencils and Requesting Supplies
Students are responsible for providing their own paper, pencils/pens, etc. Neither a borrower or a lender be. Pencils are sharpened BEFORE class. Sharpen two, so you have a spare. Students are not allowed to leave their seats to sharpen pencils during class.

10 Tardies Students are to be in their seats by the time the tardy bell rings. “In” means: bottom flush with seat—not half-way down. Students who are tardy are required to sign the tardy log. A third tardy will result in ASD.

11 Make-up Work One day for each excused absence for full credit.
No late work accepted otherwise

12 Grading Policy Grading calculated by SIS A 92-100% A- 90-91% B+ 87-89%
F Below 60%

13 Testing Schedule and Structure for Class Procedures
Spelling tests given EVERY Friday (or Thursday as schedule dictates) Other tests given at the discretion of the teacher Make-up tests on Tuesday during tutoring hour from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Class procedure dependant on curriculum

14 Trash Trash is kept at the student’s desk until
the end of the class period Students are not allowed to ‘shoot’ trash into the bin

15 Food and Drink Gum is allowed unless it becomes visible and/or audible, at which time the student will be asked to spit out his/her gum Food and drink are not permitted in the classroom (school policy)

16 Class Participation Asking Questions Responding to Questions
Students are requested to raise their hands and wait to be called upon by the teacher Wait time is approximately three seconds

17 Miscellaneous No arguing with the Ref. No “student lawyers.”
Student argument is disruption, deserving a second consequence. If a student disagrees with a decision, a private conversation may be scheduled for a later time. Administration and parents may be involved.
