3 Student Action on Saskatoon Water Attitudes

Prizes will be a water bottle filling station for your school and a commemorative plaque. Some applicants may also receive Operation Water Drop test kits for their class. Industrial Pollution

4 What’s Next? Now that you’ve decided what Saskatoon water issue you want to investigate, what’s next? Using your survey data, come up with a plan of how to educate your community on the issue and create informational material to help you out.

5 Questions? Industrial Pollution

6 What does your data say? After completing your survey, develop a plan best suited to your baseline data. If most of your community does not know where their water comes from, you could focus efforts on that, as well as your project focus, to maximize the positive change in this criterion. Since you are trying to create a quantifiable positive change, inform your audience on what actions can create that change. For example, the amount of water that would be saved by limiting use of certain appliances.

7 Education Remember to educate your community on the source of their drinking water. Be sure to ask people if they know where their water comes from in the first survey you send out. In your follow-up survey, after educating them about their water source, ask again if they know the source of their drinking water. Note the change in how many people knew before and after.

8 Education Be sure that everyone you educate fills out your survey.
Establishing your baseline data is important before educating your community because you can’t go back and do it afterwards. Keep track of everyone who takes the survey, get names or s, so that you can be sure that they will complete your follow-up survey as well.

If you hold an event, make sure that the participants fill out one of your surveys before they hear your information. This will contribute to your baseline data and increase your sample group! Afterwards, make sure they complete your follow-up survey to see how attitudes have changed. Keep track of who takes your survey.
