1 FLIPPED CLASSROOM ACTIVITY CONSTRUCTOR USING EXISTING CONTENT–Computer networks

2 About you Iam B.Anuradha,M.E(VLSI),Assistant professor,Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering,Coimbatore. My area of interest is Networking,VLSI,Electronic devices,Image processing.I had 3.5 years of teaching experience.

10 About In-class Segment
students able to do in higher-order thinking (Analyze-Evaluate-Create). students able to get feedback on their work, either from peers or you. It provides summary of Out-of-Class and In-Class activities.

11 In-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of In - Class Activity Categories of protocol Operation of simplest and stop wait protocol with examples Key Concept(s) to be covered 1.Simplest Protocol 2. Stop and wait Protocol

12 In-class Activity Design -2
Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do Problem solving using Think-pair-share activity Explain the strategy by giving details of Teacher plan to ask questions related to frame transmission of stop and wait protocol i)If Frame is lost or delayed what happens during frame transmission ii)How the timer works in stop and wait protocol Students has discusses the problem with peer instruction or with a teacher Justify why the above is an active learning strategy By using Think –pair –share activity student directly engaging the class ,students able to differentiate how frame transmission occurs without error and with error

13 In-class Activity Design -2
Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does Three questions are framed at the start of the class and provide summary of noiseless channel Q 1:write the program for simplest protocol Q 2:What happens to the frames if acknowledgement delayed Q 3:what are the advantages of stop and wait protocol

14 In-class Activity Design -2
Peer Instruction Strategy – What Student Does For each question students vote individually. You have to discuss with peers and come to conclusion. Listen to my explanation.

15 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Writes the program for simplest protocol step by step how frames are transmitted

16 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Think (3 minutes) Instruction:Identify what happens to the frames if acknowlegement is delayed What are the advantages of stop and wait protocol Think individually and provide solution

17 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Pair (~5 minutes) Instruction: Now pair up and compare your answers. Agree on one final answer. While students are pairing and discussing, instructor goes to 2-3 sections to see what they are doing. Discusses with neighbours answer and agree on the class declarations ,find the final solutions

18 In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Share (~5 minutes) Instructor asks a group to share their answer with class and see whether anyone is having different answers. After sharing is done, instructor gives feedback on the correct solution. Solution:Timer times out- frame is lost and new frame is transmitted from sender to receiver,Receiver finds that particular frame is not received properly, same frame is transmitted again from sender to receiver, wait for acknowlegment,If frame acknowledgement was received before timer times out, frame was received successfully from sender to receiver

19 Advantage:Accuracy, Next frame is transmitted only when the first frame is acknowledged. In the pair phase students to compare the answers. In the share phase again the different answers are found

20 In-class Activity Design -2
Justify why the above is an active learning strategy In both strategies, students learned the program of simplest protocol in both sender and receiver and how frame transmission between sender and receiver occurs if error happens. They discuss and come out with final solution which helps to improve their Analytical ability.
